While there are many faces of diversity, the majority of advertising and public relations professionals do not reflect the ethnic and racial makeup of the United States. Our industry needs professionals who identify with the expressed viewpoints of diverse audiences and represent the larger communities we work in and with.
Hosted by the UCF Nicholson School of Communication and Media, Ad/PR Pathways is an initiative created to build the next generation of ad/PR practitioners of color. By providing information and opportunities, and developing a pipeline of talent, UCF faculty and ad/PR professionals seek to inspire and develop future leaders who represent their target audiences, communicate with and advocate on behalf of their respective organizations.
During a weekend-long program in February (Feb. 4-6), participating students will learn about the ins and outs of the profession, and hear from successful advertising executives, communication managers, social media experts and more.
Ad/PR Pathways is open to current first- and second-year students at UCF and its DirectConnect partners (e.g. Valencia College and Seminole State College). Any minoritized student (e.g. Black, Indigenous, Person of Color) is eligible to apply. The program offers a limited number of seats and participation is 100% free for those who are selected.
