Dr. Elizabeth L. Petrun Sayers is an associate behavioral and social scientist at the RAND Corporation in Arlington, Virginia. Her areas of expertise include risk, crisis, and science communication. Petrun Sayers works across the national security and health fields and is currently Principal Investigator on several projects for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Science Foundation. She is also a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining RAND, Petrun Sayers worked at the University of Maryland and the National Institutes of Health. She received her Ph.D. in communication from the University of Kentucky.

Research Boundary Spanning: Understanding Crisis Communication Collaborations across Government, Academic, Non-profit, and International Organizations

Several types of organizations, spanning academic, government, to international, may collaborate to practice and research crisis communication. However, different organizational cultures can lead to misunderstandings, possibly inhibiting collaboration. This panel will bridge the cultural gaps among organizations that work together on government-sponsored research.
