Karolin Bauer is a research associate at the Freie Universität in Berlin (Work Group Interdisciplinary Security Research), Germany. She earned her master´s degree in geography in Germany. She is dedicated to disaster management and focuses her research on risk perception, risk and crisis communication, vulnerability and natural disasters.
After completing her master’s degree in 2014, she began working as a research associate for the University of Berlin, Work Group Interdisciplinary Security Research.
She holds a master in Geography from the University of Leipzig, department of Geography. She focuses her research on risk perception, risk and crisis communication, vulnerability and natural disasters.
During her studies she has worked for the German Committee for Disaster Reduction as well as for a non-profit- organization in Venezuela to support the inter-cultural exchange and to cooperate with local organizations in the Caribbean in order to protect endangered natural environments.
She also completed a sponsored internship for a local NGO in the Philippines to strengthening disaster risk reduction capacities and developing disaster protocols in Asia.
