Yue \u2018Gurt\u2019 Ge<\/strong> (Ph.D., 2013, Texas A&M University) is Assistant Professor of Emergency Management and Urban and Regional Planning in the School of Public Administration and\u00a0 Faculty Co-lead of the Urban Resilience Initiative<\/a> at the University of Central Florida.<\/p>\n

Gurt studies community resilience through public-private partnerships from an interdisciplinary and community-engaged perspective. He has been involved as a PI or Co-PI on over $4 Million in sponsored research.\u00a0Recent projects include risk communication enhanced by advanced IT and AI and community partnerships (NSF Smart & Connected Communities), uncertainty in hurricane evacuation decision making (NSF Hazards SEES), socioeconomic impacts of satellite-enhanced flooding forecasts (NASA Water Resources Applied Sciences), and data syntheses for public health crises (NSF-funded SSEER and CONVERGE, Natural Hazards Center at CU Boulder). He received an early career award from the Early Career Faculty Innovators Program at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), a major facility sponsored by NSF.<\/p>\n

Gurt\u2019s method expertise covers interdisciplinary survey and experiment design, quantitative analysis, and spatial analysis (GIS).
