Biography

Arlyn Rivera Elizée is one of very few bilingual emergency management consultants and trainers in the United States. The new COVID-19 pandemic and it’s disproportionately higher rates of severe disease and deaths among the Latinx population has proven that the need to expand effective crisis and risk communications and emergency management trainings & information to Latinx populations is more urgent every.single.day.

With over 15 years experience as a public health & communications consultant with many national & international public health campaigns at the CDC, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, etc., she’s helped to identify and address many gaps in access, equity, communications and emergency management. She holds a Master’s Certificate in Emergency Management from the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Program at Florida State University (FSU) Center for Disaster, Risk & Policy.

She was also one of the pioneers on the use of social media in emergency response and risk communications as one of the first Social Engagement Interns at the then new and nationally recognized Digital Operations Center of the American Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, DC. Since then she has also had boy/girl twins which added an additional meaning to “emergency management” in her life.
