PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Worked with the Bob Graham Center for Public Service to create a tool that explores the climate change impacts and preparedness at the community level in Florida’s 67 counties. Giovanna also collaborated with the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences’ Nature Coast Biological Station to publish a piece on possible solutions to keep Florida’s water clean by the elimination of septic tanks and clam farming. The project won the 2018 best Online In-Depth Reporting Award from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Region 3 Mark of Excellence (MOE), third place in the Ray Reece Excellence in Environmental Journalism Student Award from the Society of Environmental Journalism (SEJ), and the Best Multimedia Feature Award in the student division of SPJ’s Sunshine State Awards.
