A review of that history illustrates the program\u2019s innovativeness and vision for the future. Starting off as the Department of Communication when UCF (then, the Florida Technical University) opened its doors in 1968, NSCM offered a B.A. in Communication with emphasis in Journalism, Radio-Television, Speech or Theatre. Over the next 30 years, the department added and changed a variety minors, tracks, chairman, and even offered a master\u2019s degree in 1971. During that time, NSCM moved from being a department to the School of Communication in 1989 and was then named in 1996, the Nicholson School of Communication.<\/p>\n<p class=\"missionpara\">After much shifting and renaming of programs, it was in 2006 that the programs changed to become what we have today.
