{"id":4230,"date":"2013-05-15T15:46:17","date_gmt":"2013-05-15T19:46:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/communication.cos.ucf.edu\/nicholsonresource\/?page_id=4230"},"modified":"2020-04-02T09:43:56","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T13:43:56","slug":"internal-resources","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/communication.ucf.edu\/resource\/internal-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposal Writing Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #000000\">Proposal Writing Resources<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Nicholson School of Communication is offering start up grants to all faculty to help you with your grant search:<\/p>\n<h3>Application Process:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>$10,000 available overall<\/li>\n<li>Priority on writing and winning grants<\/li>\n<li>Prep work for new faculty seeking to apply<\/li>\n<li>Travel to consult with partners<\/li>\n<li>Grant start-up funds<\/li>\n<li>Write a one-page proposal and submit with budget request.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000\">Proposal Submission Process<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>As part of the reorganization of UCF Research processes, ORC has upgraded the ARGIS PTF with an expected \u201cgo-live\u201d date of Tuesday, January 16, 2018. \u00a0ORC is requiring the ARGIS PTF inclusive of the full proposal documentation (according to the sponsor\u2019s solicitation guidelines) be submitted in ARGIS <u>no later than Five (5) Business Days<\/u> prior to the Sponsor\u2019s deadline date. Important, ORC will not process\/accept PTFs submitted after this deadline, and proposals will not be submitted to the sponsor as a result.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Immediate steps have been taken by <u>COS Pre-Award<\/u> to assist Faculty in transitioning to the new ARGIS. Please see the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Faculty must contact Susan Morris (susan.morris@ucf.edu) to alert of your intent to apply for sponsored funding no later than ten (10) business days prior to the Sponsor\u2019s deadline date. This will allow Susan time to work with faculty and the COS Pre-Award team to prepare the full proposal documents.<\/p>\n<p>2. Susan will work with the COS Pre-Award team will initiate the draft PTF no later than five (5) business days prior to the Sponsor\u2019s deadline date (no need for the PI to initiate the PTF):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter the Title, Deadline, Solicitation, PI(s) and Budget<\/li>\n<li>Upload all draft proposal documents<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>3. The PI(s) will be notified by Susan to access the \u201cdraft PTF\u201d and enter any information regarding Human Subjects, Animals, Space requirements, COI Certifications, etc., as instructed.<\/p>\n<p>4. The PTF (Proposal) will be submitted five days before the sponsor deadline, which will begin the routing\/approval process in ARGIS. After this time PTFs will not be able to be modified. COS Pre-Award will work with ORC to make sure all documents are compliant and special requests\/exceptions are properly authorized. If changes are needed (only regarding technical documentation), COS Pre-Award will notify the PI and implement the corresponding changes in ARGIS. <em>PIs will still be able to upgrade the technical content of the proposal until 2 business days before the sponsor deadline<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>5. Special cases\/exceptions: <em>a)<\/em> If you plan to request \u201ccost-share\u201d funds from ORC, the PTF will then be required to be in ARGIS and submitted ten (10) business days in advance of the Sponsor\u2019s deadline to allow the VP of Research to review. If approved, a 50% match will also be required by the Department.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>b)<\/em>\u00a0Exceptions to the internal 5-day deadline will be studied in a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong><u>ARGIS PTF \u2013 PI\/COS\/ORC Workflow Timeline<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"container\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"row\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-3\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>10 business days prior to Proposal deadline (At least)<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-3\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>5 business days prior to Sponsor deadline (hard deadline)<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-3\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>Within 2 full business days of the draft submission<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-3\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>2 business days prior to Proposal deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"row\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-3\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>PI &lt;-&gt;<\/strong><strong>\u00a0COS<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-3\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>COS &lt;-&gt;<\/strong><strong>\u00a0ORC<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-3\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>ORC &lt;-&gt;<\/strong><strong>\u00a0COS &lt;-&gt;<\/strong><strong>\u00a0PI*<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-3\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>ORC &lt;-&gt;<\/strong><strong>\u00a0COS<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"row\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" col-12 col-md-3\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>Alert Susan Morris of proposal.
