Jung Kyu (Rhys) Lim is a Ph.D. student in Communication at the University of Maryland, College Park, with a focus on public relations and strategic communication. His research investigates how organizations can improve communication regarding risks, crises, and issues management. His research utilizes mixed methods, including quantitative, qualitative, and computational methods.

Jung Kyu has extensive experience in the field of communication, encompassing advertising, public relations, social media, and communication research. At Maryland, he also joined the Risk Communication and Resilience research portfolio at the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), a Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence. At START, he has helped to develop science-based answers for how effective government communication can help individuals and communities best prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

Prior to the University of Maryland, Mr. Lim had worked at the advertising agency HS Ad, the art museum, as well as the global public relations firm Burson-Marsteller. His clients include: Singapore government, Qualcomm, Bayer, Accenture, Bell Helicopter, Korean Air, and LG.

Bilingual in Korean and English, Jung Kyu earned his B.A. degree in Advertising and Public Relations, with minors in Business Administration and Theatre Design, from Chung-Ang University, South Korea. He won multiple awards and fellowships, including international advertising awards Clio Awards and Korean Government Scholarship for Overseas Study.
