Research

One of the core missions is to facilitate and promote original research in the many aspects of crisis communication. Social scientific research should be conducted to advance theoretical concepts, test and validate practices and to illuminate case studies of contemporary exemplars of crisis communication episodes.

Efforts to promote research include:

• The development and maintenance of physical and virtual research laboratories where relevant and trustworthy crisis communication research can occur.

• Publicize the findings through print, applicable and stimulating presentations, electronic applications and word of mouth with the intent for the research lessons learned to be applied.

• Serve as knowledge repository for current research and best practices.

• Promote support and investigation methods, assessment and evaluation.

• Identify partnerships, sponsorships and as appropriate contracts and grants for research projects to support faculty, graduate researchers, undergraduate researchers and partners.
