Sr. Advisor Communication
RIVM
Sanne van Wijk is senior advisor communication at the National Institute of Health and Environment in the Netherlands, where she works at the center for safety. She is responsible for the communications about health researches of the RIVM during and after the crisis. This can be an industrial crisis, but most part of Sanne’s attention and expertise is needed for issues in the environment that slowly emerge in a (societal) crisis. In her daily work, she combines theoretical research of risk and crisis communication with daily practicing these disciplines.
Bridging the gap between health risks and perception
The past few years we were confronted with four environmental issues that contained a gap between theory and practice. In this presentation, I will share my lessons learned of our experiences with communicating about nuclear radiation, soccer fields with rubber crumb, Chrome IV and Chemours.
