Elizabeth Andrade is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prevention and Community Health at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. She is also the Administrative Core Director of the Avance Center for the Advancement of Immigrant/Refugee Health. Dr. Andrade is a behavioral scientist and biologist, with expertise in health communications, public health interventions, and global and domestic community-based research. Recently, she was the team lead for the Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC) assessment for the Government of Puerto Rico-commissioned study, Ascertainment of the Estimated Excess Mortality from Hurricane María in Puerto Rico.
Health Risk Communication: Lessons from Puerto Rico and Hurricane Maria
The George Washington University School of Public Health was commissioned by the Government of Puerto Rico to conduct an independent study to assess crisis and emergency risk communications (CERC) in Puerto Rico prior to and following Hurricane María. We will present CERC assessment findings and recommendations for risk communication.
