B. Gail Wilson (Ed.D., University of Pittsburgh, 1993) is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Communications Media at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She teaches doctoral courses in crisis communication, new media ethics and teaching pedagogy. “Development of STREMII?: Five Year Anniversary Review & Reflection of a Model for Crisis Communication and Social Media”
STREMII (pronounced STREAM-ee) is practical model proposed as a means to assist institutions and organizations with effective practice of crisis communication via social media. It contains a series of steps and recommendations to assist with digital crisis procedures during pre-crisis, crisis, and post-crisis phases. The original iteration of the model contains a six-phase cyclical process, including: (1) social listening, (2) targeting audience(s), (3) engaging & responding, (4) monitoring a
