1. Khairul Islam is a Ph.D. student and Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Communication at Wayne State University. His research interests are in the areas of risk and crisis with public health implication. Presently, he is involved with NSF-funded Project titled Water and Health Infrastructure, Resilience, and Learning (WHIRL) that examines risks, hazards, and disruptions in the water system to promote reliability and resilience. 2. Dr. Matthew W. Seeger has been a faculty member and administrator at Wayne State University for 32 years. He is currently Dean of the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts. Dean Seeger’s research concerns crisis and risk communication, health promotion and communication, crisis response and agency coordination, the role of media, including new media, crisis and communication ethics, failure of complex systems and post-crisis renewal.
