Sevgi Baykaldi, studies public diplomacy and how public diplomacy plays a role in international communication. Sevgi holds a M.A. in Journalism from Turkey and is a PhD. student at School of Journalism in Michigan State University. Her research interests include Public Diplomacy, International Relations, Political Communication, Crisis Communication and Social Media.
Public Diplomacy: A Case Study of Diplomatic Crisis between Turkey and the Netherlands
Turkey is a West-leaning country in transition to access to the EU. On March 2017, the diplomatic relationship between Turkey and the Netherlands turned into a diplomatic crisis that had strong reactions across social media.The study takes an exploratory approach to analyze the twitter communication used by the Turkish and the Dutch governments’ during the crisis.
