Angie B. Lindsey is an assistant professor in the Department of Family, Youth & Community Sciences working within the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Center for Public Issues Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (PIE Center). Angie currently serves at the Point of Contact for the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) for UF/IFAS. Her research focuses on disaster preparedness and recovery within rural communities, looking at crisis communication efforts before, during and after disasters. Her Extension work has been in partnership with Extension and organizations to meet gaps and needs within communities affected by disaster.

A tale of two storms: Comparing national media coverage of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Michael

This study aims to address crisis communication efforts before, during, and after extreme weather events in rural vs. urban communities. The quantitative study and framing analysis will focus on major national newspaper media coverage of both Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Michael.
