RTV LISTSERV INSTRUCTIONS

RTV students are encouraged to sign up for the RTV Listserv. The listserv is the official email communication vehicle of the Radio-Television division. Announcements about class schedules, changes in classes, as well internship and job opportunities are made through “the list.” It is a one-way communication/announcement tool.

When signing up for the listserv, students are encouraged:
- to make sure they have an academic/professional email address - this helps lend credibility to the student, as well as ensures that personal email will not clog the inbox;
- to make sure that their spam/junk mail filters are not catching radiotv@pegasus.cc.ucf.edu. This is the official RTV email address from which the listserv emails will originate. NOTE: Yahoo!email addresses have been rejecting mass emails from ucf.edu domains - you are encouraged to use a different email provider than Yahoo!;
- to check their academic/professional email address regularly, as information can be time sensitive.

To Subscribe to the RTV Listserv:
1. Compose an email from the email address you wish to use for academic work. Keep in mind, if you have a personal email address that fills up, you may miss official emails from RTV. You are encouraged to create an email address specifically for academic work.
2. In the TO: line of the email, type in listserv@listserv.cc.ucf.edu leave the subject line blank in the body of the email, type “Subscribe rtvmajors Firstname Lastname” (without the quotation marks)
                 Example: Subscribe rtvmajors Tim Brow
3. Emails will then be sent to that email address.
4. Remember that this list is for announcements from RTV and the Nicholson School of Communication. It is only one way; therefore, you will not be able to reply to any messages that come from the email list.

To Remove yourself from the listserv:
1. Compose an email from the email account that is currently subscribed to the list in the To: line, type listserv@listserv.cc.ucf.edu. (leave the subject line blank)
2. In the body of the email, type Signoff rtvmajors Firstname Lastname
          Example: Signoff rtvmajors Tim Brown

KNIGHTS EMAIL ADDRESS CHANGES
In accordance with UCF guidelines, the Radio/Television division is revising its Listserv instructions. Students are encouraged to use their Knights Email accounts to subscribe to the List. Please follow the instructions below, beginning with the directions for UNsubscribing from the list, then subscribing with your Knights Email Account. If you have not previously subscribed to the RTV list, you may skip the “Remove yourself” section and subscribe directly.

To Remove your OLD email address from the listserv:
1. Compose an email from the email account that is currently subscribed to the list in the To: line, type listserv@listserv.cc.ucf.edu (Leave the subject line blank)
2. In the body of the email, type Signoff rtvmajors
          Example: Signoff rtvmajors

NOTE: make sure to delete everything else from the body of the email.

     1.  Compose an email from your Knights Email address. Keep in mind, if your email address fills up, you may
     miss official emails from RTV
     2.  In the TO: line of the email, type in listserv@listserv.cc.ucf.edu leave the subject line blank in the body of
     the email, type “Subscribe rtvmajors Firstname Lastname” (without the quotes):  
                    Example: Subscribe rtvmajors Tim Brow
     3.  Emails will then be sent to that email address
