Biography

Professor Dr. Martin Löffelholz is founder and head of the International Crisis Communication Research Group at the Institute of Media and Communication Science, Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany. Since June 2021, he has been spokesperson for the DECIPHER research consortium, which analyzes the communication strategies of governments and health care institutions in six European countries and the USA on Covid-19. Professor Löffelholz has conducted numerous research projects, particularly in the areas of journalism, international communication, crisis and war communication, organizational communication, public diplomacy, and military communication, and is the author or (co-)editor of more than 300 scholarly publications, including 18 books. In his research and consulting work, he regularly adopts an application-oriented perspective, not least due to his professional experience as a former television journalist and soldier in the German armed forces.
