seamlessness moving from one sound source to the next
integration of sound sources into general spot’s message/purpose
           creating a believable sound environment
managing the mix between FG and BG sounds

  • Production complexity

You are required to produce and record a ONE-MINUTE audio-only public service announcement (PSA) or commercial using the television audio control room and announce booth.  Minimum content requirements are:

  • voice slate  (format below)
  • at least one instance of dialogue
  • at least one instance of an announcer voice-over (Voice Over talent must be separate from all other voice talent used in this piece.)
  • at least two non-dialogue/non-VO sound sources that can be either music or SFX or a

        combination of both

Additionally:

  • Productions will be mastered onto FLASH DRIVE.  Prior to submitting the flash drive to me, you will delete all takes except the one take you wish me to grade.  Thus, the flash drive you hand in will contain only one take of your audio assignment on it.  In cases of multiple takes on the flash drive, I will grade the first take, whether complete or not, and I will deduct 10 points from the overall score for the assignment.
  • No post-production is allowed.
  • All production will take place outside class or lab hours.
  • Voice talent for this assignment may NOT come from individuals who are members of this class.

VOICE SLATE FORMAT:

  • Voice Slate (name, “Audio Assignment #1”, “take 1”)
  • :01 break
  • “3, 2, 1” then lay down the complete production

You are also required to furnish me with a polished first draft of your Assignment #1 script in single-coumn audio formatting as explained in class at the date and time posted on the Course Schedule.   Multiple script pages must be stapled together in the upper left-hand corner.

You will produce a one-minute full video/audio studio production that is either a PSA or commercial.  Productions will be mastered onto DVD, which will be provided, and onto the server.  The DVD will be your master which you will keep.  The server copy is for me for grading.

Requirements:

  • This may not be the same concept as your audio spot.
