Colbie Caillat Caused Quite The Controversy With Her Touching Music Video For Her Song “Try” – Click To Find Out Why!

I choose to analyze a song called “Try” performed by Colbie Caillat from her album Gypsy Heart. The song was written by Jason Reeves, Colbie Caillat, Antonio Dixon and Kenneth Edmonds. This song became very popular a few months after being released in the summer of 2014. I personally became aware of it a year later of being released, it was all over my social media in 2015, especially in Facebook everyone was sharing the video over and over again, just like I did too.

The song’s rhythm is soft pop, closer to like a ballad but just the tempo and the beat of the music already puts a smile on your face since it sounds very inspirational. You can hear a piano in background, a soft guitar and Colbie’s soft voice of course. For example when she says in the song “Put your make-up on, get your nails done, curl your hair, run the extra mile, keep it slim so they like you, do they like you” she uses those phrases to show how we all are basically trying so hard to achieve some type of look that in our heads is what will make others like us. We are basically just waiting their approval so we know we did good when getting ready to go out.

But the ugly truth is when she says “do they like you” even though it doesn’t have a question mark on the lyrics, she saying as a question to us. Like after all we have done to look presentable for others, do they like us now? Are we somewhat acceptable-looking to them now that we have 3 pounds of make-up? Those are they real questions, because I know the feeling of taking forever to get ready because you really want impress someone, you went all out with your clothing and full-on make-up.

Beyonce finally release her high anticipated album just days before she starts her U.S tour!

Yes I said it Beyonce has finally release her higlyh anticipated album and it is called Lemonade. The album was released on Saturday on Tidal, if you do not know what Tidal is it is a website and app that lets you get music singles and albums as soon as they drop. It is sorta like Spotify but more expensive, it requires a monthly payment ranging from $20-$6 but the more you pay is the more you are able to enjoy the app. Fans have been waiting for this album to come out because they already have their tickets for the concert that kicks off in Miami. Some people though that the she was going to release her album during her concert or a day before her concert. Beyonce tends to suprise us with her music at anytime now, she has us waiting for a few years and then BAM a brand new album with a video for every song.

I have listen to Lemonade and this album is going to be a top seller. The visual images that she shows us in the video is something new, refreshing and a lot of women can relate. She has Serena Williams in one of her videos, yes I said it Serena Williams the tennis player, she also had so many other black women who are famous, not famous, moms, single moms, aspiring dancers, female musicians and even Eric Graner and Trayvon Martin mom. The lyrics talk about empowerment and how black women are not cared for, she talks about being cheated on and lied to. This album goes deep, she really talks about her feelings on a personal level. This tour is going to be very different from her last tour which she did with her husband. This album is worth listening to and trying to see these lyrics from a different perspective and honestly I am not even a Beyonce fan like that but she is really using her voice to the issues that are being ignored about black women in the media. Beyonce is a pro black feminist and I am here for her to keep doing her thing!

Oversaturation of Game Genre’s in the Market

Thye gaming industry is no stranger to seeing the current market flood with a bunch of similar types of games around the same time. Take, for example, the launch of the Wii back in 2006 saw the Wii market filled with quick, hard to control motion sensor focused games like Red Steel and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Further, there was one type of game that continuously popped up on the Wii because of the popularity of Wii Sports  – mini-game collections focusing on multiplayer and a small amount of different game types and modes. The issue got so bad that Target and Gamestop once sent out a memo in 2010 asking game publishers to no longer approach their stores with mini-game collections.

However, there is an older trend that has dominated the video game market almost since it’s inception. A game type so large and massive it can encompass almost any type of gameplay imaginable, yet seemingly falls back into the same overused tropes every few years – First person shooters. Beginning back in the early 1990’s with games like Doom and Quake for PC, then moving to consoles with Perfect Dark and Goldeneye 007 for N64, the flood gates had opened. In it’s original incarnations, many First person shooters seemed unique at the time, especially when you have games like Turok, where you take on hordes of dinosaurs in an ancient jungle, to compare to a game like Duke Nukem 64, a game that consists of lewd humor and fighting cops that are literally portrayed as pig monsters. Soon, though, almost every popular shooter became focused around World War II. Allied Assault and the popular Call of Duty series brought players into the world of their favorite action movies like Saving Private Ryan and Pearl Harbor.

In the years after, the early 200’s, World War 2 shooters became the norm. The number of times gamers have stormed the beaches of Normandy or silently stalked through German streets snapping Nazi’s necks can not possibly be counted. Soon, this became a trned, and every body started to notice. Quickly growing weary, franchises had to find other ways to cope. In 2009, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare began a new trend of realistic, modern day shooters, beginning a new genre oversaturation. Soon after, Team Fortress opened the doors for class-based shooters, bringing in dozens of games like Destiny and Titianfall.

This has been a constant problem for the industry. There are periods of growth and periods of stagnation, and even moments of relapse. For instance, there is now calls for a return to World War 2 shooters due to the surge of technological power the gaming industry has experienced the last 5 years. This is not limited to shooters and mini-game collections, those are just 2 of the most obvious examples that could be pointed at on a timeline. Innovation is key to creating new and interesting content for users to experience, and if the same games are being re-created over and over by different studios with a slightly different color of paint, then what is the purpose? Well, it’s fairly obvious the purpose is the big pile of cash at the end of the headshot rainbow. Gamers need to demand more variety, and pblishers need to stop cranking out games on a tri to bi-yearly schedule just to meet deadlines and quotas. Do work that you enjoy and at the end of the day makes you proud, instead of working to create Call of Turok 6: Modern Dinosaur Fortress 007.

The banana is under a biological attack

The Panama disease, or “Fusarium wilt,” is beginning to spread across the globe and is infected banana crops, starting from Asia and traveling to Australia, the Middle East, and Africa. The banana that most eat, the Cavendish banana, is the most threatened.

This disease is threatening to harm Latin America’s export of bananas.

Labeled as one of “the world’s most destructive banana diseases” by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the industry has taken protective measures against the recent outbreak that threatens the global banana crop population. In fear that travelers will traipse contaminated dirt onto non-infected soil, the International Banana Congress that was supposed to take place in Costa Rica, has been changed at the last minute to Miami.

This isn’t the first time a disease to the most consumed banana has happened.

In the 1960s, the same disease wiped out a previous banana which resulted in the current banana species, the Cavendish, to be adopted as the replacement for the former most popular banana. While the new replacement at the same quality as the previous banana, it was resistant to the vicious bacteria.

Researchers believe that history might repeat itself once more and in result, searching for a new banana to possible replace the current species, just in case. Taiwanese scientists are experimenting on new bananas that are mutated from the current species of banana. They are attempting to make a banana that is resistant to the current strand of the Panama disease.

They fall short of the standard held by previous popular bananas, but researchers are hopeful to continue in their research to provide a better and more resistant banana.

Entertainment Icons Influence: More Negative Than Positive?

The idolized stars of today’s music and entertainment industry have quite the impact on their audiences. Icons like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Beyoncé, just to name a few, are some favorites of the newest generation and saying their influence is always positive especially on young female fans, is debatable. The common concern is among parents because they fear that their children want to imitate everything they see their idols doing, particularly the unfavorable things that aren’t age appropriate. But undoubtedly, young audiences are these stars’ biggest supporters and because of the celebrity’s impact we would hope that they serve as more of a positive role model.

But even though the most common concern is that of the children, young adults are an even  bigger part of their fanbase, vulnerable to influence very similarly. On Saturday, Beyoncé released her newest album “Lemonade” right after the visual album premiered on HBO and it was nothing shy of Internet-breaking. The download was exclusively available on her husband’s streaming service website, Tidal, and sales broke immediately. The number of viewers, many of them adults, for the singer’s HBO premiere was countless and social media went nuts, even from her fellow industry stars. The anticipation yielded quite the talk and it became the program you just couldn’t miss this past weekend. When these artists grasp more attention than tragic deaths and an upcoming presidential election, it makes you question what people find important and how much it rules everything. It almost appears to be a brainwashing effect of the value placed on these stars, who are naturally just humans like you and I. Personally, I’m a fan of plenty of entertainment icons but in more recent years, I can’t help but stand amazed at how everything about them headlines and supersedes some of the issues in the world that truly deserve yet starve for a fraction of that attention. I believe the expectation is that they do greatness with their powerful influence. But that’s not always the case and it makes you wonder: is there influence positive or more negative?

New Sony Playstation NEO Confirmed To Be In Development

Early this year, rumors of a new Playstation 4 model began to surface, with many specualting its release to be in the summer of 2016. These rumors, while unfounded at the time, were echoed across tech based media and has created a sense of anticipation for Sony Playstation fans. Well that anticipation seems to have paid off as early last week, gaming news website GaintBomb unveiled a report that not only affirms the existence of a new Playstation 4 model, but also reported it as being codenamed: NEO. This report expresses the main differences between the new and old PS4 models, stating that the new console will be 4K capable (for bluray movies), will have better processing power, VR support (in time for Sony’s new VR peripheral), and will be able to play the PS4’s already extensive list of games and apps.

The report went into great detail about the specification differences the new model would have, stating that while the hardware inside might not be much different, there will be significant changes to CPU/GPU clock speed, onboard memory bandwidth, and graphical fidelity. The NEO should be a more powerful and reliable console when compared to the baseline Playstation 4, but will according to reports not hold any exclusive games over the normal PS4 itself. In fact, it seems Sony very specifically does not want developers of games to favor the NEO over the normal PS4, and that while devs can create PS4 games with a sort of “NEO mode” (where games will run at a higher framerate or with better graphics) on the PS4 NEO, those games also must also be available for use by regular PS4 users. This Sony backed parity between consoles is admittedly strange, but is ultimately very consumer friendly, as it does not force those in the market to pick one console up over another.

These new developments promise a very interesting Summer season for Playstation owners should the NEO prove to be everything that Giantbomb has reported, and I know I’m certainly pining to get my hands on one.

Too much television and too much video games having a negative effect on a child’s future?

Children spend over 1680 minutes a week watching television. Per year, the average child spends 1,500 hours a year watching television and playing video games, while they only spend 900 hours a year in school. The television and video games need to be reduced or cut out of the American home in order to influence healthier lifestyles for children by introducing more beneficial alternatives to occupy their time.

Most children use television and video games as their sole resource for entertainment, which, in turn, can become a very unhealthy habit. Spending countless hours in front of a television or playing a video game is not exactly the best idea for a growing child. This time wasted could be used for other activities that can benefit a child. Many children are not involved in any recreational activity. Parents tend to use television as a babysitter instead of spending quality time with their children in the outdoors. The more a child stays inside, the more accustomed to a lazy lifestyle they become. This leads to childhood obesity and numerous health issues in the future. Out of habit, a child will start choosing television over everything that includes physical activity.

This can be easily fixed with added physical activity to replace gaming and the viewing of television. On average, a child who plays outside burns 268 calories per hour. With children in front of a television for 28 hours a week, just cutting this margin in half will greatly benefit a child’s health. If a child plays outside just half of the time that they are normally watching television, they will burn off 3,752 calories in one week. This will not only promote and insure a healthy lifestyle; this will help to burn excess energy.

NBA: Saturday standouts and shootouts

The first round of the NBA 2016 playoffs is almost through, with all teams just finishing their third or fourth game.  Last night, the games started in the east first with the Toronto Raptors vs. the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat vs. the Charlotte Hornets.

Indianapolis — Final score 100-83 Pacers.  The Pacers went into game 4 with their backs almost against the wall, being down to the Canadian home-based team.  This was a surprising turn around in regards to Game 3 where the Pacers looked like a completely different team.  After lineup changes, and some defensive intensity the Pacers cruised to a victory.  Notable performers Paul George scored 19 and Hill as well as Mahinmi each had 22.

Charlotte — The Charlotte Hornets, who under the command of President/Owner legend Michael Jordan have broken records in the past decade for being one of the most consistently bad teams in the league.  But no more, last night they snapped a 14 years playoff drought in relation to actually winning a game.  The hornets took down the heat 96-80 at home for the streak snap.  The Hornets, led by Kemba Walker finished with 95% Free throw shooting on the night compared the the Heat’s 63%.

Portland — Not much here, the Trailblazers get on the board with a win over the Clippers to make the series 2-1.  Lillard with 32, McCollum with 27.

Dallas — The Thunder took a commanding lead against the Mavericks on the road and never looked back taking a 3-1 lead in the series.  Tempers flared as Kevin Durant was ejected from the game late on, as well as Westbrook losing his temper and Ibaka receiving a technical foul.  All of this, after the game was well out of reach for the Mavericks.  Shots from the field, we’re even but the Thunder got to the charity stripe significantly more than the Mavs.  Final score: 119-108

An Energy Revolution Will Arrive When We Can Store More Energy

I find it interesting to think about energy and how it’s stored. Humans store energy in the form of fat. We eat food, and whatever energy we don’t use immediately get stored in our fat cells. This works very well for us. However, electricity is a little different. Right now the only technology we have to store electricity are batteries.

Battery technology has evolved over the past 100 years, but not by much. At one time we used lead cored batteries, but the amount of energy stored was limited and the lifespan of the battery’s charge was limited. New technologies extended battery life, and now we’ve progressed to Lithium-Ion batteries which power most of our electronic devices. However, they are still limited.

Why is battery technology so important for the future? It has to do with sustainable forms of energy production. One of the detractors of solar power isn’t the cost of making solar panels, as the industry grows economies of scale will be reached. We are already seeing a drop in price due to more companies entering the solar energy market: Solar City and Sun Edison to name a few. The issue is being able to store the power.

The current technology for solar power has us only being able to collect and store approximately 30% of the energy. This makes battery technology a highly important focus not just for energy companies, but also consumers. The planet is our only home, so being able to effectively use all of its resources responsibly will allow us to become more energy independent while also not destroying our home.

There exciting thing on the horizon for battery tech. Graphene and nanotechnology are the biggest bright spots on the horizon. Graphene is a new material made from carbon atoms linked together. It conducts electricity incredibly well, better than any other material we currently have, and it can also store energy at a higher rate than Lithium-Ion. Nanotechnology coupled with graphene show the promise of a limitless energy future.

The Benefits of Drinking Wine

As several research studies have shown, wine [especially red] offers several health benefits to its consumers. The key, of course, is moderation. Consuming one or two four-ounce glasses a day is not only relaxing after a hectic day, but it is also a much healthier choice over beer and other spirits. Here are the most impressive five benefits from drinking wine:

  • Promotes longevity: According to a Finnish study published in the Journals of Gerontology of over 2,000 men over a 29-year time period, wine drinkers have a 34 percent lower mortality rate.
  • Lowers heart-attack risk: A 16-year Harvard School of Public Health study of showed that moderate wine consumers suffering from high blood pressure are 30 percent less likely to have a heart attack than nondrinkers.
  • Slows the decline in brain function: According to a Columbia University study of 1,416 people, brain function decreases notably faster in nonconsumers than in moderate wine consumers.
  • Contains anti-aging properties: A Harvard Medical School study reported that red wine contains resveratrol, the compound found to have the most potent anti-aging effect. It is found on the skins of red grapes, blueberries, cranberries and nuts.
  • Reduces the risk of depression: A study from several universities in Spain reported in the journal BMC Medicine that drinkers who consumed two to seven glasses of wine per week were less likely to be diagnosed with depression.

Basically, wine aficionados can affirm that wine equals happiness and better health. Wine has been studied extensively over the years and the findings never disappoint. Pour yourself a glass, and follow the path to a better quality of life. Cheers!
