Computers have definitely saved workers a lot of time and hard work. However, computers are not identified as being “labor savers” as they were originally intended. When I think of a computer, I think of social media, homeWORK and news. Computers were meant to help manage our workload and time. Instead computers have consumed our time.
I suppose having computers as toys instead of work-savers is a good thing. If we had a computer do everything for us, mass amounts of people would be out of work. If the work week went from 40 hours a week to 15 , our pay grade would be down significantly. People’s attitudes and quality of life would go up because of less work, but down because they had no money.
For now, computers are devices we choose to use. I wonder if in the future they will evolve to become ever more than a way to waste our time. Will a robot be doing my laundry in the next 25 years?
