Early Friday morning, the Plano Police Department received a call from a male about someone who had committed murder. According to People, popular Dallas food reporter Stacy Fawcett had been stabbed to death by her son. The forty five year old and her seventeen year old son Josiah Utu both suffered fatal stab wounds after Fawcett’s eldest son, McCann Utu Jr., attacked them before stabbing himself. The nineteen year old then contacted police telling them that he had just committed murder. When police arrived on scene at the home in Plano, about twenty miles north of Dallas, they found a deceased male and female, along with a male who was alive and suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The suspect, McCann Utu Jr., was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died. Justin Fawcett, Stacy’s brother told authorities that his nephew had “been different since suffering a traumatic brain injury over a year ago”.
A GoFundMe account has been made to help fund the memorial services for the entire family. Starting at a ten thousand dollar goal, the fund has already reached almost eight thousand dollars. Any excess funds will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank in memory of Stacy Fawcett.
Students from Plano West High held a memorial for Josiah Fawcett where he was currently in his junior year. Hundreds of students gathered around a makeshift memorial to pay their respects. Students and community members also came together at Parkway Hills Baptists Church to pay respects and mourn for the family.
