Biography

Maria Eduarda Lander is the Coordinator of the Queretaro Association for the Promotion of Reading (LEO A.C. Mexico). The mission of LEO is to spread the enthusiasm for reading to children and young people as a fun, creative, and transformative activity. By doing this, LEO helps reduce children’s rejection of school caused by a lack of interest in reading and learning. LEO’s members are reading mediators, the persons who are between the child and the book. LEO helps promote the love for reading and reduces children’s frustration towards reading by using a playful reading approach that starts at an early age. LEO members work with children between the ages of 5 and 18 who live in vulnerable situations. LEO also continuously seeks support from private companies to build libraries. The changes found in the communities are highly satisfactory.
