NFL Quarterbacks Peyton Manning (DEN) and Eli Manning (NYG) are brothers who are usually known for each performing at elite levels to lead their teams to the playoffs perennially. However, this season the brothers have had the most contrasting records after the first five games that they have ever had while they were both starting Quarterbacks in the NFL.
Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos have gotten off to a perfect start this season, still undefeated with a 5-0 record. Manning has thrown for 1,884 yards, 20 touchdown passes and only one interception this year, giving him a QB Rating of 136.4 over the first five games. On the other hand, Eli Manning and the New York Giants have struggled tremendously this season. After five dreadful performances, the Giants have still yet to win a game and have started the season with a painful 0-5 record. Eli Manning has thrown for 1,482 yards, eight touchdown passes and twelve interceptions this season, giving him a QB Rating of 65.8 over the first five games.
While the Quarterbacks are large factors in each team’s record, there are other factors that have contributed to each team’s current success or failure. The Broncos’ defense has been great as usual this year. When you pair a great defense with a great Quarterback and offense, it is going to be very difficult to beat that team any given Sunday. The Giants’ defense has been alright, but has given up some big plays over the season that have ultimately lost games for the team. The offense has been awful this year in every aspect compared to what fans are used to seeing from their Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. Both teams should realize that the season is still young, and each of their records could make a turn for the better or worse over the remaining eleven games on the schedule.
