This past weekend, rappers Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg resurrected the late Tupac Shakur at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The rappers brought him onstage as a hologram singing his hit songs.
Thanks to modern technology, Tupac, who died at the young age of 25 in a 1996 shooting, was brought alongside Snoop Dogg as a life-size hologram, leaving thousands of fans to watch in awe. “What up Coachella?” shouted the 3D image on stage. The Tupac hologram performed his hit songs “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.” These audio clips seem to have been taken from some of his past performance while he was still alive. Tupac performed with fellow rapper Snoop Dogg then dissipated into thin air.
The late rapper even had his own twitter account, @hologramtupac, leaving fans to tweet their comments and excitement towards the show and rappers appearance.
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg had plenty of different surprises in store for their audience. Other than the late Tupac, many other rappers made appearances throughout the set. Eminem performed “I Need A Doctor,” “Forget About Dre” and “Till I Collapse” with Dr. Dre. 50 Cent also rapped his hit song “In Da Club.”
Tupac wasn’t the only rapper being remembered. Nate Dogg, who died just last year at the age of 41, was also remembered by his rap family through a montage of photographs and different performances.
Many other young hip hop stars performed at Coachella, as well. Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifia were some of the many who had the chance to perform in front of these large crowds. Both came out and sang the new single “Young, Wild & Free.”
These Coachella performers closed the show after having a weekend filled of performances. Earlier that day, Florence + The Machine returned to the Coachella stage performing fan favorites such as “Cosmic Love,” “Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)” and “Dog Days Are Over.”
New Australian singer Gotye proved to be a huge success after their performance. Singing their current radio hit, “Somebody That I Used To Know.”
Numerous DJs came out to Coachella as well, playing their own remixes to some of these songs. Even Rihanna made a special appearance singing her number one single “We Found Love.”
Coachella was the place to be this weekend, and proved to be a huge success once again. Many huge parties were held afterwards, and tons of celebrities attended these major events.
