Two seasons ago Derrick Rose tore his ACL in the playoffs against the 76ers. The Bulls were the top seed in the eastern conference and they were ready to challenge the Heat for a chance to play in the NBA finals. Instead, the Bulls lost to the 76ers and the high hopes of Bulls fans were shattered. Derrick Rose would need to undergo surgery, and would not be back until about mid way through the 2012-13 season, at least that is what everyone thought.
Rose ended up missing the entire 2012-13 season, even though he was medically cleared to play. Many people criticized Rose for not playing for his team. The Bulls ended up making the playoffs last year, but Rose still decided to sit on the bench and watch his team play. Several players on the Bulls played through their injuries, such as Joakim Noah and Luol Deng. Chicago could have used their superstar in the playoffs last year, but Derrick Rose decided to cheer on his team from the sidelines.
After not playing for 526 straight days, Derrick Rose finally made his return to the court on Saturday. It was only a preseason game, but Rose scored 13 points in 20 minutes. All eyes will be on Rose this upcoming season. He decided to miss the entire season last year, all because he wanted to be absolutely 100 percent for this year. If the Bulls don’t at least make it to the eastern conference finals, the criticism toward Rose could reach all new heights.
