Oden and Beasley Have A Fresh Start In Miami

The Miami Heat will begin their quest for a third straight championship tomorrow night against the Chicago Bulls. Miami will be receiving their championship rings before the game. They will also be wearing custom championship jerseys with gold trim. The game against the Bulls will be a tough task because Derrick Rose is finally making his return for Chicago. Rose suffered a torn ACL two years ago, and decided to sit out all of last season to recover. Miami are the favorites to win the championship this year, and they added two new players that could help them achieve their goals.

Greg Oden is one of their new additions this year. Oden was the first overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers. He was supposed to be the franchise centerpiece for the Blazers, but after 3 knee surgeries Oden hasn’t played a game since 2009. Miami plans on working Oden into the rotation very slowly and monitor his progress throughout the season. Oden will most likely sit the bench most of the regular season, but when the playoffs come around, Oden could be an important piece to the Miami Heat’s championship run.

Another addition to the Miami Heat this offseason is Michael Beasley. Michael Beasley was the second overall pick by the Heat in 2008. Beasley has consistently had drug problems, so he has jumped from team to team over the past couple of years. After stints with Phoenix and Minnesota, Beasley finds himself back in Miami with the Heat. If Beasley can get his act together, he may be able to contribute a lot off the bench for Miami.
