In the English Premier League, rumors are spreading like wild fire as the September second transfer window deadline approaches. Big name teams like Arsenal and Manchester United have yet to make a big move this summer. Both of these clubs are watching on as rivals like Chelsea, Manchester City, and Tottenham are making big moves. As their rivals are getting stronger, Manchester United and Arsenal have failed to pull in a big name transfer.
The defending champions, Manchester United, have had a busy summer with the transition of managers, and with star Wayne Rooney asking to leave the club. New manager, David Moyes, has said Rooney will stay put in Manchester. Moyes has been very vocal on bringing in new faces to the club, but has nothing to show for it so far. United’s bids for star players like Cesc Fabregas, Leighton Baines, and Marouane Fellaini have failed miserably. United need to make a transfer move fast before all the star players are off the transfer market. Manchester United will have a strong squad with or without any new acquisitions this summer.
Arsenal may be in a little bit more trouble. Arsenal has already lost their first game of the season to Aston Villa, a side that was close to relegation last season. Coach Arsene Wenger is on the hot seat because the fans feel the club needs to be contending for the title. Arsenal have made one signing this summer, Yaya Sanogo. It is embarrassing that Arsenal have only bought one player with the amount of money the club has available. Arsenal has been interested in every star that has been on the market. The strongest possible signing would have been Luis Suarez. He would had fit in Arsenal’s system perfectly, but Liverpool refused to let Suarez go for less than £50 million. A few other names that have slipped through Arsenal’s hands are Luis Gustavo, Gonzalo Higuain, and Willian. Arsenal need to get somebody before the transfer window ends or the fans won’t be happy. Both teams have the quality to qualify for the Champions League, but these teams want enough fire power to win the coveted Premier League title.
