The Greatest 18 Holes in Golf – Part 1

What golfer has always dreamed of playing Augusta National?  Maybe Pebble Beach?  Or travel across the “pond” and play the famous St. Andrews.  I for one would give anything to play just one of these courses, but considering the reality of the situation, I’ll settle for putting together my own dream 18 holes of golf (in no particular order).

Hole #1 – Spyglass Hill Golf Course, Pebble Beach, CA.  Hole # 4 – Par 4 – 370 yards.  This hole posses one of the smallest greens in the world and with the natural vegetation down the left side of the fairway and deep rough down the right, your challenged from start to finish!

Hole #2 – Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, GA. Hole #12 – Par 3 – 155 yards.  A narrow green, deep bunkers in the back and a pond along the front make this hole a challenge.  Add the sprawling azaleas along the back and you have one of the world’s most beautiful holes!

Hole #3 – Old Course, St.Andrews, Scotland.  Hole #17 – Par 4 – 455 yards.  The toughest hole at “The Home of Golf” features a narrow green and is framed by the picturesque town of St. Andrews.

Hole #4 – The Abaco Club, Bahamas.  Hole #5 – Par 4 – 312 yards.  A scenic drivable par 4, with turquoise waters running down the left hand side and sandy white bunkers circling the green.

Hole #5 – Bay Hill Club and Lodge, Orlando, FL.  Hole #18 – Par 4 – 458 yards.  One of my personal favorites.  Start with a blind tee shot to a downhill fairway.  Your approach shot into a banana shaped green is guarded by water in the front and right and deep bunkers to the left and back.

Hole #6 – Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, CA.  Hole #7 – Par 3 – 100 yards.  One of the most feared par 3’s in the world.  An elevated green looks down on a tiny green with the daunting Pacific Ocean ready to eat up any shot hit too long.

Hole #7 – Bethpage Black Course, Farmingham, NY.  Hole #5 – Par 4 – 451 yards.  The toughest hole on one of the toughest courses.  Dangerous tee shot, dangerous approach shot and a downhill green make for a frustrating experience.

Hole #8 – Royal Troon, Scotland.  Hole # 8 – Par 3 – 123 yards.  Another short par 3 that has befuddled even the best golfers.  A super fast green and 5 deep green side bunkers make for a knee knocking tee shot.

Hole# 9 – Medinah Country Club, Chicago, IL.  Hole #13 – Par 3 – 245 yards.  A long, downhill par 3 into a super fast green, make this a huge challenge to any golfer.  A two tier green awaits every shot, which can wreck havoc on your nerves.

Next week comes the back 9 of my fantasy 18 holes in golf!
