Well the 2013-2014 NBA regular season is coming to a close, and with only a handful of games left for each basketball team it’s time to start looking ahead at the playoff picture and possibilities that could happen. Starting with the Eastern conference, the whole season it was viewed as a weak conference due to its lack of teams that are viewed as contenders for a championship. Aside from the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers, the rest of the Eastern conference has been inconsistent and sub-par in their play this season. However, I wouldn’t count out certain teams to be able to knock off one of the top 2 in the East. Look out for the team oriented Chicago Bulls or the hot and healing Brooklyn Nets to possibly challenge the Heat and Pacers down the stretch.
For the Western conference, the stronger of the two, it has shown that there are numerous contenders that may win the championship this year. Such teams include the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers, and Houston Rockets. With Golden State Warriors and Portland Trailblazers also in the mix, it provides an interesting road to the Finals from the Western conference, where every team will be hard to knock out.
Ultimately though, I think the way the playoffs will take shape is the conference championships being the way everyone can vision, with the Heat playing the Pacers and the Spurs playing the Thunder. I can see a rematch of last year’s finals but this time the Spurs are able to close out the Heat in 6 games.
