Personal care products and services generate billions of dollars a year as we use our resources to improve our looks and our bodies. We naturally fight the aging process that sooner or later will be unkind to every person. For men, one of the most difficult changes to deal with is the loss of hair. There are so many products out there, but none of them can truly bring back hair that the body has stopped producing. Now, it seems that we are on the verge of revolutionizing how fading hair can be regrown.
Human hair grows out as cells beneath the surface push dead skin cells out, a process known as neogenesis. Hair loss occurs when the papillae that control this process stop working. In order to fix this, scientists have found a way to remove a pupillae and use it to reprogram cells around it to produce hair. With enough pupillae in many different places, full and normal hair growth occurs.
Before this discovery, the most common method for hair growth was transplant, taking the hair from another part of the body and placing it on the head. This new process avoids that hassle, and instead of covering up it actually regrows new hair.
With the popularity of self care and baldness treatment out there now, this finding has major consequences for the future. Baldness, although a harmless ailment, is one of the most frustrating problems for many men today. It will be interesting to see how this affects the look of society in the future.
