With gas prices at all an all-time high, averaging around $4.50 cents per gallon who is looking out for “The People”? The Obama administration claims to be ardently trying to give money to the poor, and those who don’t want to work for it but yet they are not looking out for the best interest of the people it seems. Obama is making it more difficult for everyone he is allegedly trying to help. Gas prices affect the poor the most. With high gas prices everything becomes more of a financial burden for the poor and middle classes.
Government regulates oil companies. The administration decides what the companies can and cannot do with their resources. There is plenty of oil in the U.S., even despite Obama’s rejection of the Canadian Pipeline (which was greatly boost the economy and I am completely for solely because of the job creation element, but again his rebarbative nature doesn’t allow for rationalism). So the question becomes, why are oil prices so high, especially for this time of year? In my opinion, the government is not regulating the oil companies appropriately. They have an opportunity to export more product oversees to make more money, so in turn they raise prices at the pumps here. So if the oil companies are exploiting the people, we logically look to our government to product us. However, with a green energy administration that has a plethora of ulterior motives, we as a people are forgotten and exploited.
Historian and GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich claims that Obama wants the United States’ gas prices to be as high as Europe. Gingrich stated during an interview with Charlie Rose “He (Obama) has said it himself. Chu, his energy secretary, said in 2008 he wanted gasoline prices to get to the European level, which is $9 or $10 a gallon. Last year, the president said people shouldn’t complain about high gas prices — they ought to buy more efficient cars. The president himself said he wants to get there; he just wants it to be gradual. His policy has been outrageously anti-American [toward] energy” (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0212/73108.html#ixzz1n1m2LJxU). Obama’s hypocrisy is confusing to say the least. If companies are permitted, by the government, to exploit the people without any repercussions we desperately need to take back our Democracy before it’s too late.
