Oregon student shooting at a local community college; 9 people killed

On October 1st at Umpqua Community College, the gunman, Chris Harper-Mercer was enrolled in the class where the shooting occurred. Nine people were killed and nine were injured, the victims dead ranged from the ages of 18 to 67.  The gunman was armed and wearing armor. He arrived at the english class and began shooting towards the back of the room, he told everyone to go to the center of the classroom said one the of survivors. Harper-Mercer asked for the christians to stand up and began shooting, yet regardless of the victims’ answers he still shot them. The gunman later committed suicide during a gun battle with a police officer.

Celinez Nunez of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm and Explosives investigated Harper-Mercer’s apartment and found thirteen firearms legally obtained by the shooter and family members. The gunman served the army but was “discharged for failing to meet the minimum administrative standards”.

Authorities are not providing the motives yet those who survived the mass killing, stated he seems to be doing this out enjoyment with no regret.

Stacy Boylan, the father of Anastasia Boylan who played dead in order to survive, said the when Chris Haper-Mercer entered he told the class that he had been “waiting to do this for years” and shot Lawrence Levine, professor of the class.

The Police are still investigating on the killer motives and the writings that were delivered to the police from one the students in the classroom who the gunman assured his survival if he delivered them.
