The Greatest 18 Holes in Golf – Part 2

What golfer has always dreamed of playing Augusta National?  Maybe Pebble Beach?  Or travel across the “pond” and play the famous St. Andrews.  I for one would give anything to play just one of these courses, but considering the reality of the situation, I’ll settle for putting together my own dream 18 holes of golf (in no particular order).

Hole #10 – Turnberry Golf Club, Scotland.  Hole # 9 – Par 4 – 454 yards.  From the breaking waves of the Irish Sea to the beautiful lighthouse next to the green, this hole epitomizes links style golf.

Hole #11 – Cypress Point Club, Pebble Beach, CA. Hole #16 – Par 3 – 231 yards.  Tee shot features a 200 yard carry over the Pacific Ocean to a green surrounded by bunkers.  If the shot doesn’t take your breath away, the view will.

Hole #12 – Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, Dubai, UAE.  Hole #18 – Par 4 – 430 yards.  With the Dubai creek running down the left and an approach shot over a lake, this finishing hole, with it’s magnificent clubhouse in the background, is tops in the Middle East.

Hole #13 – Punta Espada Golf Course at Cap Cana, Dominican Republic.  Hole #13 – Par 3 – 250 yards.  From the crystal blue waters to the circling winds, everything will have your attention on this monster of a par 3.

Hole #14 – The Prince Course at Princeville, Princeville, Kauai, HI.  Hole #1 – Par 4 – 448 yards.  Start by driving the ball with jungle short/right and jungle long/left.  Approach shot into an uphill blind green and you’ve got yourself one of the scariest holes in all of golf.

Hole #15 – The European Club, Brittas Bay, Ireland.  Hole #7 – Par 4 – 470 yards.  Bushes, creeks, lakes and tight fairways and greens are just a few obstacles you’ll find at this fantastic par 4.

Hole #16 – Pebble Beach Golf Club, Pebble Beach, CA.  Hole #8 – Par 4 – 416 yards.  You start with a blind uphill tee shot that must be hit precisely to avoid trouble.  Then the challenge begins, as you hit into a small green that is guarded by the Pacific Ocean and runs away from the golfer.

Hole #17 – TPC Sawgress, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.  Hole # 17 – Par 3 – 132  yards.  Another short par 3 that has befuddled even the best golfers.  Super famous for its “island green”, this picturesque hole is on the bucket list of every serious golfer.

Hole# 18 – Banff Springs Golf Couse, Banff, Alberta, Canada.  Hole #15 – Par 4 – 470 yards.  This beautiful hole offers surrounding forest and hanging glaciers in the distance.  The approach shot is a challenge, as the green features 6 bunkers and an occasional elk to liven things up!

That concludes my dream 18.  Hopefully my travels will take me to a few of these holes in my lifetime!
