Technology has changed our world, relationships, and lifestyles completely. It is unbelievable how we can speak to someone across the world with the blink of an eye. With sites such as Facebook and Twitter, the world will be forever connected. When I was younger, my decorated backpack defined who I am. These days, ones Myspace layout defines who they are. When reading the article, “Relationships, Community, and Identity in the New World Society” I realized how many people use the internet to express themselves rather than expressing themselves in real life. Websites like Match.com allow people to create a customized profile and meet dates. The idea of online dating is so common and it seems as if it is more normal than casually bumping into someone new on the street.

It is so easy to meet someone online, even without a dating website. Many of my friends are now dating people who they were once “Mutual friends on Facebook” with. I think relationships these days are definitely worse compared to the twentieth century. My best friends always have to deal with their boy-friends texting them non-stop and always wondering where they are. It is awesome how there were no cell phones back then and you didn’t have to worry about being tagged in a wrong photo. It’s a lot better meeting someone in person rather than through a screen and today that is hard to find. We cannot tell some ones true personality until we meet them face-to-face and I hope dating never becomes completely revolved around online dating websites.
