Winter Park Orders Dogs Leashed at Fleet Peeples Park

It started on February 28th; the dogs who visit the popular Fleet Peeples dog park on Lake Baldwin must be on leashes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Signs went up on Monday notifying users that the policy will be strictly enforced. Violators will be subject to fines of $50 or more. The sign also advises dog owners to pick up after their pets.
The Parks and Recreation Commission voted 6 – 1 in January to enforce the rule, which was enacted so families and people without dogs could use the parks pavilions for weekend picnics. A park attendant will be at the park handing out information cards reminding guest of the park rules.
