Mass Effect 3 Ending Sends Gamers Into An Uproar

For many gamers, March 6, 2012 was a date that couldn’t come soon enough, as it would provide them the sure to be epic conclusion of Commander Shepards 7 year journey.  Less than a week after that date, fans are wishing they hadn’t played the game.  It’s not because the game is bad, as a matter of fact, it has garnered universal acclaim from critics and fans alike, but it is the game, and series, final scenes that have left gamers furious.  Numerous online protests and petitions have been popping up all over the internet that can be dated as early as the March 7.  One movement dubbed “Retake Mass Effect” has raised over $29,000 for the Child’s Play Charity in order to garner the attention of Bioware, the company responsible for the series.  It is a possible option for Bioware to release a downloadable patch that would effectively amend the dissatisfaction of gamers everywhere, but at this point in time Bioware representatives are taking a very neutral approach.  Just last week, director Casey Hudson released an official statement on the Mass Effect forums declaring “”We understand there is a lot of debate on the Mass Effect 3 ending and we will be more than happy to engage in healthy discussions once more people get to experience the game. We are listening to all of your feedback.”  It has been two weeks since the release of Mass Effect 3, and with each passing day more players are completing the game and experiencing the disappointment and frustration that has been making its rounds since the games release.  Earlier today the official Mass Effect facebook page gave fans of the series a glimmer of hope that they haven’t ruled out altering the games conclusion by stating “We would like to clarify that we are actively and seriously taking all player feedback into consideration and have ruled nothing out. At this time we are still collecting and considering your feedback and have not made a decision regarding requests to change the ending.”
