Seattle Seahawks v. New Orleans Saints Overview

Seattle Seahawks v. New Orleans Saints Overview

Tonight the Seahawks faced the New Orleans Saints at home. A win against the Saints would give the Seahawks home field advantage in the post season. With the best record in the NFL and NFC this season (11-1), the Seattle Seahawks have been nothing short of impressive. Since becoming the Seahawk quarterback, Russell Wilson has won every home game (13-0). Despite his young age, Wilson has all the makings of a true leader. His field awareness allows him to make outstanding plays.

On the other hand, the Saints are also an elite football team. In tonight’s game, they fought to stay at the top of the NFC South.  However, the Saints are now tied for first place in the NFC South with the Carolina Panthers after loosing to the Seahawks tonight.

The Seattle defense limited Drew Brees to 112 passing yards. He’s had 200+ passing yards for 43 straight games, before tonight (an NFL record). Seattle won 38-7.

On another note, Seattle fans surpassed their previous Guinness World Record for loudest crowd. With the 12th man on their side, the Seahawks easily took the win!

Remembering About a Time I went to My Church, And Seeing How The Heart And Passion of my Pastor Has Become Alive in The Past Few Years

I remember a service I went to The Calvary, a small Church located in Orlando, Florida, about five years ago; the general pastor came on stage and talked about the importance of being part of a church and talked about his experience when he was visiting Tommy Barnett’s church, in New York City. This was an experience he had twenty years ago and at that time he was surprised that that church was having about two hundred ministries serving the community. Pastor Barnett’s idea was to look for a need and find the way to satisfy that need. Pastor Nino told us his dream has been always to follow this church model. He states that a person grows when he or she puts his or her hands on the plow and is helpful to one another. The message was that we as Christians are a team representing Christ. Quoting Pablo in the book of second Corinthians 3:2 “Your lives are a letter written in our hearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you.” People can read our actions, and our goal has to be part of the solution and not of the problem. God gives us gifts, and we should put those gifts to His service.
God is the one who give us life, health and resources. He blesses us and when we look first for His Kingdom, everything else falls in place. The pastor quoted 3 John 1:2 ¨Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers and be in good health.” The message at that time was so interesting, but what is most interesting is how pastor Nino followed Pastor Barnett’s model. And thanks to his courage, perseverance and action, and with God’s favor and grace, The Calvary is becoming a big church that has about five thousand members.

Rest in Peace, Paul Walker<3

This past Saturday, November 30th, a famous actor was involved in a car crash that tragically ended his life.  The unfortunate actor was Paul William Walker IV, who starred in films such as ‘The Fast and Furious’ series which he is most famous for and other films including ‘Into the Blue’ and ‘Eight Below.’  This tragic news is taking the world by storm and it broke my heart as well.  Paul Walker has always been one of my favorite actors who just so happened to star in one of my favorite movie series’ (The Fast & The Furious).  Thinking about how the next movie in the series will be affected just shows that “the show really must go on.”  As devastating as any news can be, the 7th installment in the Fast & Furious series will be released around July of next year and they will have to make Walker’s character, Brian O’Connor disappear somehow.

In regards to his death, the most heartbreaking and yet heartless comments some people are making just make me sick.  Some real big assholes state that “He wasn’t fast and furious enough.”  His death just happened to be a so-called “irony” because he was the star of racing films and died in a car accident, even though he wasn’t driving.  Those statements are the most ridiculously crude ones I’ve ever witnessed and it just makes me question humanity with people like them.  My heart goes out to Paul Walker, Roger Rodas (the driver in the car), and their families.  I will honestly miss Paul and hope he rests in peace.  He was yet another angel taken too soon.

“If one day the speed kills me, do not cry because I was smiling.”            -Paul Walker

Unearth Relic: Bold History or Brash Savagery?

There’s no mistaking it, as time goes on we remember less and less of the events that happened in our past. Video game developer Crytek has just recently released a brand new video game called Ryse: Son of Rome, which tells the story of young Roman soldier Marius Titus as he hunts for the barbarians who took his family away from him. While a quest for vengeance kind of video game is nothing really new, it’s worth mentioning that a good majority of the game takes place in Rome, Italy. A place not often seen in most adventure video games, unless one counts the Assassin’s Creed series.

Nevertheless, the amount of violence in Ryse is incredibly high, despite the fact that most Roman gladiator matches were pretty brutal to say the least. But on a lighter note, perhaps this glimpse into the past is what more video games these days should do to get children and adult’s more interested about a culture of a past civilization. Think about, when we’re driving a car out of a parking spot we can’t move forward without first backing up to see what’s behind us. In hindsight, the game teaches you that there can be no hope in seeking revenge against those who’ve harmed you. Especially since all it will do in the long run is trigger a vicious cycle of hatred. But perhaps something as trivial as revenge can be channeled into something more constructive-such as justice or redemption-which is basically the story Crytek is trying to tell us with their latest video game. Whether or not we ryse to the occasion-pun intend-is up to us.

Amazon Plans to Use Drones to Make Deliveries

Amazon has grown exponentially over the years, rising from a lowly eBay competitor to a major corporation offering a variety of services and changing the way people do business with each other. Amazon offers consumers the ability to buy and sell goods, and most importantly, it provides means for shipping and handling, taking the burden off of the consumer. As most services and industries move online, making their services as quick and efficient as possible, the business of shipping goods has has little innovation in comparison. Every part of the purchase and transaction can be handled online, but the physical item being purchased has to reach the consumer, and that cannot happen online. Amazon and other services have improved this part of the process, but it seems to still  be lacking. Amazon recently made an announcement that could change this forever: shipping with drones.

Amazon’s CEO recently announced plans to implement unmanned drones for its deliveries. These drones would take the product from the shipping facility right to the door of the costumer, cutting the delivery time. This seems like something that is too good to be true, falling into the science fiction category, but the technology is already a reality.

Amazon could technically start this service as soon as it pleased, but several issues have been raised with the new service. Sending unmanned drones raises the risk of theft or hacking, as someone could knock the drone out of the air. The drone could be affected by weather and crash. Even with all of these issues, Amazon feels confident that it can do this, and it will be interesting to see how this affects the industry.

Monday Night Football Face Off: New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks

Tonight, on Monday Night Football the New Orleans Saints travel to Seattle to play the Seahawks. Both teams are having successful seasons, the Saints are 9-2 and the Seahawks are 10-1. The leaders on both teams are the quarterbacks, Drew Brees and Russell Wilson. Saints quarterback, Drew Brees is a veteran in 12th year in the NFL and broke the record for most passing yards in a season. Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson is only in his second year and is already the leader of the team and a fan favorite. Both of these leaders are short for the position, but have a great arms to throw the football down field.

They’re playing in Seattle tonight, which is one of the hardest places to play in the NFL as an away team. During the past two season the Seahawks haven’t lost on game at home, which goes to show how big the advantage is. The stadium even broke the Guinness World Record for the loudest sports stadium. The fans being that loud affects the play of the away team greatly and causes them to play much more sloppy.

As far as defenses go, the Seahawks have a much stronger defense both statistically and on screen. One of their best players is a corner back on the defense, Richard Sherman and is only in his 3rd year. The Saints defense isn’t the best, but is much improved from last year with new defensive coordinator, Rob Ryan. Also, the head coach is back from his year long suspension last season which has helped improve the team as a whole.

Glee Star Dances to the Top: Amber Riley Wins Dancing with the Stars

The hit ABC show, Dancing with the Stars claimed their newest champion. Glee star, Amber Riley danced her way to the top and took home the mirror ball trophy. Riley relied not only on the judge’s votes for her achievement but the votes of home viewers. Although she fought off maor competition, some believe that Riley’s achievement was unjust. On her hit show Glee, Riley played a high school choir student. However, Glee is famous for its outrageous performance and dance numbers. With prior in studio performance training, was it fair that Amber Riley won this season of Dancing with the Stars?

Although Glee has incorporated dance heavy numbers in the past, Amber Riley was known specifically for her fantastic vocals. She may have performed in a series of group numbers but was never asked to do the tango in front of a live audience. The practice and time that it takes to earn specific dance skills was not set aside by Riley during her time on Glee. Riley did not have prior training before her appearance on dancing with the stars and blindly entered the competition.

Dancing with the Stars has faced similar conflict in past seasons. The wide range of celebrities that make an appearance on the ABC hit may make more practiced performers appear as cheaters. Though they have danced in the past, the level of skill does not relate to the serious training they will receive on the show. Her Glee following may have given her a large amount of votes but that following would have dwindled if her skill on the show progressively weakened. Partnered with professional dancer Derek Hough, Riley was provided with the tools that she needed to win the show. How she performed the given steps was completely up to her. No amount of vocal training could possibly have prepared her for such a tough completion.

We Must Say Farewell to a Fast Lane Actor

Fans of the movie series “The Fast and the Furious” heard devastating news this passed thanksgiving weekend. Paul Walker, who played officer Brian O’conner in the films, passed away. The movies were extremely successful, with six, going on seven, films made. The series started in 2001 and has continued to raise vast amounts of wealth and fans. Fast and the Furious depicts the drama and violence that occurs between hardcore street racers and law enforcement.

Paul Walker was in a terrible car accident on Saturday, November 30th. It is heartbreakingly ironic that the thing he lived for the most would bring his demise. Walker and a friend were driving in a two door Porsche Carrera G, on the way to a car show for Reach Out Worldwide. This charity supports the Philippines typhoon relief effort and was set up by Paul, himself. Several friends and co-workers were attending the event, that happened to be very close to the accident scene.

Police officers say it is obvious that speed was a prominent factor in the disaster. The driver lost control somehow and hit a tree straight-on. If this wasn’t already disastrous enough, the vehicle then burst into flames and both passengers died. I am a huge fan of the Fast and the Furious movies and of Paul Walker, himself. He was a beautiful man and seemed like a very supportive, loving father. I know I speak for millions of individuals when I say that this a truly heart-wrenching loss. Paul once said “if one day the speed kills me, do not cry because I was smiling”; One can only hope this is true and that he is in a better place.

Man sentenced to 39 years for infecting dozens with hepatitis C

Earlier today in New Hampshire, David Kwiatkowski was sentenced to 39 years in prison for intentionally infecting at least 46 people with the hepatitis C that he carries.

Prior to his arrest, Kwiatkowski was a cardiac technologist and has worked in 18 hospitals in seven states.  Along with being a hepatitis C carrier, Kwiatkowski is also heavily addicted to alcohol and pain medication.  He has confessed to stealing painkillers from the hospital and replacing them with saline syringes that had traces of his blood.

Several victims that were infected with Kwiatkowski’s hepatitis C attended the court hearing today.  Victim, Lynwood Nelson said that Kwiatkowski “should receive the same punishment he gave us: the death penalty.”

An additional victim also commented that her brother was recently diagnosed with leukemia and as a closest sibling match, she was unable to donate stem cells because of her hepatitis C status.

These scenarios and the additional 44 other testimonies were all taken into consideration in the sentencing.  Prosecutors called Kwiatkowski’s crime a “national health crisis” that caused danger and emotional stress to a large number of people.  Although the defense argued for a 30-year sentence and played off of Kwiatkowski’s addictions, he was still given a 39-year sentence.

I am actually quite surprised that all he got was a 39-year sentence.  A man with an addiction would have simply just stolen the pain medicine.  A man that works in maliciousness does what Kwiatkowski did.  He intentionally warranted the death certificates of 46 innocent people.  That kind of evil is unfathomable.

Fiery car crash takes the life of actor Paul Walker

Forty-year-old Paul Walker plays one of the main characters, Brian O’Connor, in the popular “Fast and Furious” films. There are two more “Fast and Furious” films set to be released in the coming years, with the strong possibility of more after that. The seventh film, set for release in July of 2014, has been filming since September. However, a tragic turn of events that took place on Saturday now leave the film franchise at a loss.

On Saturday afternoon, Paul Walker was a passenger in Roger Rodas’ Porsche. Police say Rodas lost control of the vehicle and it hit a tree and light pole, and then burst into flames. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Walker’s publicist later made the official announcement of her client’s death. Family, friends, and fans of Walker immediately took to social media outlets to express their sorrow.

There are many wild stories going around about Walker’s death. Some are saying it’s a little too coincidental that Walker died in fiery car crash, something straight out of a “Fast and Furious” movie. This is easily explained, since Walker shared a similar love of cars as his character in the movies does. Others are saying that since the car was burned so beyond recognition, an additional accelerant must have been used, which suggests foul play. Police have yet to release any new details.

Since Walker’s death, Universal has been desperately trying to figure out how to handle his death, both emotionally and when it comes to the seventh movie. Characters are killed off all the time in movies, but Walker’s character was a main one. Plus, most deaths in the films are usually portrayed exactly how Walker died in real life. Universal is trying to do the most tactful thing possible, although we don’t know what that is just yet.
