Check out the city of Orlando from 400 ft in the air!

That’s right! I- Drive has brought a new tourist attraction and it’s called the Orlando Eye! You can view the entire city from 400 ft in the air on a 360* rotation “ferris wheel”. This is the tallest observation on the East Coast. Take in beautiful views from lakes to theme parks even Cape Canaveral!

I went on this when it first opened a few months back and it was pretty cool especially because of the other stuff we got to do (mention down below)! So first, the Orlando Eye… it’s pretty much a giant ferris wheel with “capsules” that can fit like 10 people in each. It takes 20-30 minutes as it goes around in 360* rotation. You can even get drinks while you’re on it, but of course it costs extra when you pay for your ticket. You can either go on the Orlando Eye in the day time or night time, I chose night just because I thought it’d be nicer with all the lights! The times for the Orlando Eye vary, the last time to go on is midnight and tickets are $20.

But the best part to this (if you want to make a whole fun day out of it) for just $40 you can do combination tickets of 3 awesome attractions- Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Sea Life Aquarium, and the Orlando Eye! All these attractions are smack in the middle of I- Drive, which includes a bunch of great dining options (even yummy ice cream)! Me and my boyfriend did this as a Sunday Funday and it was sooooo much fun and for an awesome price.

We went to the Wax Museum first and saw some pretty unique figures like Walt Disney, Oprah, Steve Jobs, Shaq, Grease, Will Smith, Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson, Anne Hathaway, even Shrek haha! That was pretty fun, make sure your camera is fully charged so you can take pictures with all of your favorites!!!! Next, we did the aquarium and I was pretty surprised at how cool it was. They have a HUGE jellyfish wall and you can change the colors of the jellyfish with the light that’s on the wall and take pics with the jellies. They have little tunnels where you can take pics and it looks like you’re actually in the tank with the fish… pretty neat. From sharks, to sea turtles, to dory and nemo they have the coolest and brightest fish in their place.

After that, we just grabbed some lunch and headed to the Orlando Eye! Before you get on they take pictures of you (if you want it, got to pay for it) to get you all hyped up. There’s no long waiting since you have your time to go on (ticket paid for online). Ended our night with some yummy ice cream and a beautiful picture from the outside with the Orlando Eye behind us. PS… it changes colors every night! This is such a cool and fun experience and it’s all for a great price. You can do 1 or all 3 and still have a great time with friends and family. Go check it out and have a blast!

Enjoy (:

Snapchat Reminds Us That the Smallest Things Make Us the Happiest

Apparently, our new favorite app, Snapchat, makes us appreciate the little things. A recent study, done at the University of Michigan, may lead us to believe that snapchat interactions lead us to increased happiness. Snapchat, an app where one can send photos or videos no more than ten seconds, one time only, once opened, the message can be replayed once more and that is it. According to the study titled, “Sharing the small moments: ephemeral social interaction on Snapchat”, which was not financed by Snapchat in anyway, those quick moments that are experienced through the app in such a sort amount of time leads to more happiness than any other social media platform. In fact, the university’s press release concluded that the only interaction better that snapchat is still face to face communication.

Perhaps that’s what’s so great about Snapchat and why it may be deemed similar to face to face communication. When physically speaking to someone across from you, it is automatically personal where you know this personal at all, it is intimate, and we live and thrive off of those moments but nature. With Snapchat, I personally find it rare that I send snaps to someone that I do not know well, strangers don’t receive my quirky, embarrassing snaps. I’m usually snapping someone that I know pretty well and natural communicating with them through any medium would make me happy, it would bring a feeling similar to that of face to face communication for me.

Now the sample used in the study consists of students from the university, probably not the most representative sample, but I think it leads us in the right direction. Because I am one of the many Snapchat aficionados, I’m curious to learn more about how we as humans grow with our technology.

224 People killed in Russian aircraft

224 people were killed in a Russian aircraft in Sinai, Egypt Saturday morning. The Russian state media reported that many of the travelers on-board Kogalymavia Flight 9268 were Russians returning from vacation. Although the passengers manifest listed only 17 kids on-board, Russian officials reported that were 25 children and seven crew members.Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin tweeted that four victims were Ukrainian nationals.

Now what is strange about this catastrophe is that there was no sign of distress or trouble before the aircraft suddenly disappeared from the radar and crashed. “Air traffic control recordings did not show any distress calls,” Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamel reported. According to an online statement, Islamic militants in the Sinai linked to ISIS claimed they were the ones responsible for the crash. Egyptian Airports Co. chief Adel Al-Mahjoob informed CNN, however, that although the cause of the crash still is unknown, it was most likely a cause of technical failure , and that no evidence of any terrorist action has been found.  He also stated the flight had a routine inspection before takeoff, showing that everything was good to go.

The plane headed for St.Petersburg, Russia departed from Sharm el-Sheikh, Sinai and dissapeared from the radar only 23 minutes into flight at 6:20 a.m.

Early Sunday morning, Russians headed to the Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg and left red and white carnations and stuffed toys for the victims of flight 9268. One table had candles and some friends and family paused in front of the memorial before their final goodbye, others stayed and waited for the bodies of their relatives to be returned.

Who Dat? Drew Dat! One of the most well known football players in the National Football League Drew Brees, threw for seven completed touchdown passes on Sunday against the New York Giants beating them 52-49. The New Orleans Saints Quarterback became one of only eight NFL Quarterbacks in history to complete so many touchdown passes in a single game.

Brees hit the historic milestone after passing to Running Back C.J. Spiller for a 9-yard score to tie with the Giants 49-49 late in the 4th quarter. after tieing the game, Saints Kicker Kai Forbath went on to make a 50-yard field goal, bringing the Saints to their 52-49 victory. “That was a big kick, boy” said Brees in his post-game press conference.

Although the game was won on a feild goal, the score of both teams combined to a 101-point game, the third highest total in NFL history. In his post-game press confrence, Drew Brees joked around saying “That’s the last time I’m watching highlights of Clemson-NC State and Texas Tech-Oklahoma State games before I go to bed, because those games were just like that…Oh, man, I’ve never been a part of something like that. … One of the craziest games I’ve ever been a part of.”

Not only was the game a memorable one for Brees; Giants Quarterback Eli Manning threw for six touchdowns in the game, bumping him up to No. 10 on the NFL’s all-time list of touchdown passes thrown. Harry Potter series sequel as a play in London.

“All was well.”

This was how author J.K. Rowling finished off her 7th and final book in a series that takes the title of best selling book series of all time with over 400 million copies sold and still counting. The book series soon got enough attention to become a movie series which also holds the title of the highest grossing film series of all time with 7.7 billion dollars between 8 films. This series that is so acclaimed and has become one of the most known and most loved of all time is the Harry Potter series.

1090739 words, 3363 pages, 199 chapters, 8 movies,  17 hours and 14 minutes, 7 books, 1 story. Harry Potter.

Since the ending of the books, Universal Orlando has added two different Harry Potter theme parks which include Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. Universal Studios Japan has even added a Harry Potter theme park to it. Warner Brothers, a production company widely known for making the Harry Potter series opened a Warner Brothers Studio Tour London in 2012 which has locations, artifacts, and replicas of different filming locations, props, and special effects that they used in the filming of all 8 movies. You could be walking through the great hall where Harry, Ron, and Hermione ate everyday in the movies. J.K. Rowling has also made an interactive website where you can go through each chapter of the books and be sorted into your own house and compete for the House cup. This interactive website is called Pottermore.

Pottermore has released extra information about all of the fan favorite things like new information and backstories about people throughout the series or information about specific items or subjects, but what Pottermore could never do was continue the beloved series that millions of people worldwide have read.

It was recently announced that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling would continue the most popular series in the world, just in a slightly different way than in the past. This time J.K. will write a Harry Potter series sequel that will follow the book series epilogue, but it will be presented on stage in the form of a play instead of a book or movie. J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany have created the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to open at the Palace Theatre London in July 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Tickets for the anticipated play went on sale October 30th, and sold out shortly after. More dates have been added increasing the plays run time to May of 2017. Lottery and late-release tickets will be sold at a later date. The play is in two parts and is either expected to be seen on the same day or consecutive days.

The cast will include over 30 members, none of which have had casting announcements yet. There is no news on whether the actors who played Harry, Ron, and Hermione or any of the other characters in the series will return for this stage sequel.

There is also no news yet as to whether the play will come over to America after it has been in London, but American fans are hopeful that it will travel over the lake so they can have a take at it and keep their thoughts and memories of the boy who lived alive.

New York artist makes his own country in Utah.

On a remote piece of land out in Utah, a small red a yellow flag flies, representing the nation of Zaqistan. Zaq Landsberg decided to create his very own “sovereign nation” within the four acres of land he purchased in a desolate, dessert area in Utah ten years ago. Typically one would assume that an artist from New York would have no business in Utah, but Zaq Landsberg has worked very hard for his tiny nation, and he has faith in it.

President Landsberg’s ultimate goal is to make Zaqistan a legitimate country, but he knows that will be difficult, if not impossible. Things have moved very slowly over the past ten years, and as of now there are more pieces of art in Zaqistan than people. The nation is about 60 miles away from the nearest town, and about 15 miles away from the nearest paved road. Landsberg only goes out to Zaqistan a few days out of the year, but more recently he brought out some colleagues and the nation had its population peak at 13 people.

There are some things that aid Zaqistan’s legitimacy, like passports that you can apply for, that suggest a 40-dollar payment. There is the red and yellow national flag, a welcome sign, accompanied by “border control”, that is actually just a large robot statute. Zaqistan also has a national motto, “Something out of nothing”, which represents Landberg’s feelings for his nation. Zaqistan may not be a recognized by the United Nations, but it is a large step above an art gallery.

Mystery Surrounds Deadly Airliner Crash As Investigators Search For Clues

Authorities have still yet to determine what caused the fatal crash of Russian airliner Kogalymavia Flight 9268.  All 224 people on board were killed when the passenger jet suddenly disappeared off radar and went down in the Sinai Peninsula.  The flight took off from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt and mysteriously broke up in the air 23 minutes after take off.  The debris came down in an area of the peninsula that is heavily controlled by the Islamic State.  Militants initially tried to claim responsibility for the bringing the jet down but authorities believe those claims are not reliable.

Investigators concluded that the jet broke into several pieces while at a high altitude.  Much of the debris was scattered across a 20 kilometer area.  Russian officials reported that the pilot had complained of technical problems with the jet and requested to land at the nearest possible location just before the flight went missing off radar.  But Egyptian officials disputed that claim and said they have no record of that transmission.

Although terrorism has not been ruled out, authorities believe it is highly unlikely that Islamic insurgents were able to shoot the jet down.  Military intelligence says the insurgents in that area only have missiles that are able to travel 14,ooo feet in the air.  It is believed that jet was cruising at a normal altitude of 30,000 feet when it went down.  Though some have suggested that if the jet had begun a descent to land it could have decreased it’s altitude enough to be reached by the insurgent surface to air missiles.

At this point of the investigation, it is believed that some kind of technical or mechanical problem is the cause of the crash.  Investigators are currently revising all records of maintenance for the craft and crew involved.  One of the pilot’s daughters has claimed that she had a conversation with the pilot before the flight and he was hoping that the craft would be in better condition.

‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ has a Groovy Halloween Premiere

Army of Darkness was released into theaters in 1992, making it 23 years since we last saw protagonist Ash Williams battling the forces of evil. Played by prolific B movie actor Bruce Campbell, Ash belongs to director Sam Raimi’s cult classic Evil Dead film series.

Now, after years of fans asking for more, the original team has come back together to produce Ash vs Evil Dead for the STARZ network. Yes, the chainsaw wielding, one-liner spouting, deadite killing machine has finally returned! But how does he measure up to the Ash that we all know and love so well?

The premiere episode of Ash vs Evil Dead, entitled “El Jefe,” aired on Halloween night. Helmed by Raimi himself, it decidedly has the same flavor as Evil Dead II. Wacky camera angles, practical effects, and fountains of blood- it’s just what the fans were asking for. The familiar floating first person perspective of the Evil Force is prevalent and the deadite make-up harkens back to their original designs.

The characterization of Ash is similar to the film series, but with Campbell at 57 years old time has finally caught up with Williams. They make it a point to repeatedly joke about how he’s aged with girdle and denture sight gags. Decidedly a bit dumbed down from the movies, a lot of the comedy comes out of Ash’s misplaced vanity and ego. Yet again, Williams is an unlikely hero forced into saving the world and not doing a very good job of it.

All and all, Ash vs Evil Dead has the blood and gore of a Saw movie but with the delightful slapstick humor of The Three Stooges. While they cater to fans of the original film trilogy, it does provide enough backstory for anyone to just tune in and pick the plot up. From the looks of the preview for the season, the remaining nine episodes are going to be a crazy (but groovy) ride.
