Film and Mass Media Assistant Professor, Tim Ritter, was recently named the Robert Rodriguez Indie Auteur of the Year for his work in directing feature film Echoes, which was the top award given at the Bare Bones International Film and Music Festival’s 25th anniversary celebration in May. The award is named after trailblazing independent filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, also one of Ritter’s early inspirations.
Ritter offers a glimpse to the film by saying that “Echoes, which follows God as he re-starts with a new Adam-and-Eve experiment after mankind has been wiped away,” also took Best-of-Genre at the festival for Faith/Spiritual and was nominated for Best Actor for Kahlid Elijah Tapia. The festival took place in Muscogee, Oklahoma, and featured nearly 100 films worldwide.
Echoes, also played to a packed screening at Fort Myers Film Festival later in May in Southwest Florida, was named a semi-finalist for Virginia’s Richmond International Film Festival and will screen in competition in Cleveland later this month as part of the 78th United Film and Video Festival.
