Students in the Nicholson School of Communication and Media continue to exceed expectations with their accomplishments. Melanie Cedeño, a second-year MFA Film Production student at UCF, is proud to announce her short documentary, La Buena Cosecha, was officially selected for the 40th Miami Film Festival. The film will screen as part of the Cinemaslam program on March 4th, 2023, at 12 PM, at SilverSpot Cinema 12, 300 SE 3rd St #100, Miami, FL 33131

Cedeño describes the movie as follows: “La Buena Cosecha, directed by UCF students Melanie Cedeño-Lopez and co-produced by Joselyn Martinez, explores the positive impact that Latino entrepreneurs have had on the United States’ economic, social and cultural landscape. The short film offers a powerful and thought-provoking look into the lives of Paola and her son as they embark on the journey of turning their Colombian-style café into a national franchise. The short film is currently being developed as a feature-length film which will explore more stories of Latino entrepreneurs who run rapidly growing restaurants in Central Florida.”

Make sure to go see the documentary and support our students!
