NSCM has amenities and resources that students, faculty and staff can use on the main and downtown campuses. This includes 3D printing, a laser cutter, recording studio, AR/VR equipment & other instruments, broadcast studio on main campus and checkout for tech, theater room on main campus, and a grad suite.

Now NSCM has expanded this catalog to include a new podcast studio on the main campus in the Nicholson Broadcast Facility, available from 9am to 5pm on weekdays.

“The podcast room is available to Media Production Management students enrolled in skills courses,” said Michael Maguire, Manager, Media Productions and Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations for Main Campus. Maguire goes into detail about what the studio includes and why it is important to the growth of NSCM as a professional development school.

What equipment is included in the studio?

“After several months of design and construction, the main campus now has high-end, podcast space capable of creating video or audio podcasts.  This turnkey, three-camera studio is designed for small-scale live productions and requires only a single director to operate. The studio also has a state-of-the-art studio mixer, production switcher, remote controlled lighting, and professional studio microphones. This space will be available for MPM students to reserve via Zeus beginning this fall.”

Why did we feel it was important to bring the studio to Nicholson?

“As the media landscape continues to evolve, it’s important for Nicholson students to think beyond traditional mediums and be prepared to follow today’s viewing audience. Podcasting has grown into a $25 billion dollar industry with an audience of over 500 million listeners. To prepare students for this new media environment, this podcast studio will help foster creativity, promote technical acumen, and develop the content creation skills applicable to many modern industry jobs.”

What future improvements might we see in the Nicholson school next?

“To be determined based on available resources😊”
