The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) Film and Mass Media Associate Professor, Georg Koszulinski, whose debut science fiction novel Future X, has earned national recognition as the Inaugural Winner of Raven Chronicles Press’s Keepers of the Fire Prize for Fiction.
Future X officially launches in Seattle on September 5, with a special Orlando release event at Stardust Video on September 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. The celebration offers an exciting opportunity for the NSCM and UCF community to connect with Koszulinski’s work in person.
Set in the late 21st century, Future X imagines a world where global communication is dominated by the feed, an advanced AI system that makes truth obsolete. When a devastating virus silences humanity within weeks, survivor Jane Ballard embarks on a haunting quest across an abandoned Earth. Guided by the journals of a recently deceased man, Jane confronts themes of survival, identity, human-machine relationships, and the enduring question: Why can’t the dead stay dead?
The Orlando launch is more than a reading—it’s a chance for students, faculty, and community members to engage with a powerful story that bridges speculative fiction, film, and critical questions about technology’s role in society.
Looking ahead, Koszulinski envisions adapting Future X into a feature film, extending the novel’s reach into new storytelling mediums and reflecting the intersections of his work as a filmmaker, author, and educator.
Published by Raven Chronicles Press, Future X is now available for purchase on Amazon. Readers can also explore the book trailer and press materials Future X: Koszulinski, Georg, Hunter, Paul: 9798991403214: Amazon.com: Books.
