Julie Anderson is the former Editor-in-chief of two Florida news organizations: the South Florida Sun Sentinel, a recipient of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for public service for its Parkland school shooting coverage; and the Orlando Sentinel, the largest daily news organization serving Central Florida. In that role, she had newsroom management responsibilities for Orlando Sentinel and El Sentinel, and strategic planning responsibilities for OSMG.
In May 2015, Anderson launched GrowthSpotter for Orlando Sentinel Media Group and was named its publisher alongside other duties. GrowthSpotter has won 4 national awards for best business website from Editor & Publisher (2015, 2017, 2019, 2021) and a silver award from National Association of Real Estate Editors (2017). Anderson has held a variety of regional and corporate roles for Tribune Interactive (later Tribune Digital). She led an Internet travel start-up, Destination Florida LLC, in the pioneering days of the Web and AOL, launching one of the first online travel destination guides in the country. From 1999 to 2007, she managed the growth of The Orlando Sentinel’s web sites as GM and VP/Multimedia. While most of her career resides in digital, she started it as a newspaper reporter and editor.
