The UCF Nicholson School of Communication and Media’s undergraduate Games and Interactive Media Program (GaIM) is now the #6 ranked game design program in the world according to the Princeton Review. In addition, the UCF Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA) is ranked #2 in Top Graduate Programs for Video Game Design. UCF is joined by NYU, USC, and RIT, among others. UCF’s undergraduate game design program was previously ranked #13 in 2022 and #14 in 2021. “GaIM faculty undertake cutting-edge work in games and interactive media, including interactive, immersive storytelling, virtual and augmented reality, and accessibility in games—expertise they funnel into their course offerings and mentorship of our students,” said Natalie Underberg-Goode, Professor and Assistant Director, Games and Interactive Media.

For over 40 years, the Princeton Review has provided students and their families personalized and innovative test prep, private tutoring, and admission products and services. Their list of top college programs for video game design is based on institutional survey data collected in 2022 from administrators at 150 institutions offering game design coursework and/or degrees which includes academic opportunities in game design, faculty credentials, and career outcomes.

UCF Games and Interactive Media (GaIM) courses cover video game design and production, web and social platforms, and interactive experiences that combine art, storytelling, design and technology. “We are so happy to see the hard work and accomplishments of our students, faculty, and University being recognized. It is such an honor to be part of this,” said Associate Professor, Deputy Assistant Director and Graduate Coordinator in the GaIM program, Peter Smith.
