Looking to learn a new skill or creative process that could help your workflow or vision for personal and school projects? Are you a 3D modeler that wasn’t to bring their creation to reality? Do you need to create playable materials for your classes’ board game project? The Maker Space, at UCF Downtown, hosts workshops for everyone from beginners, those with no experience at all, to advanced users in digital fabrication. This facility has a variety of equipment to achieve those goals, like 3D printers, laser cutters, and more. Each workshop provides hands-on experience, a talk about the process and what similar new or advanced technologies there are, which ends with the participant taking home a small artifact.

Beginner Workshops –

These workshops happen once or twice a semester and are typically unchanged between semesters. No previous experience is required for participants, and no prerequisite work is required. Simply sign up and attend the workshop. Here is a list of the events that are currently in rotation:

  • 3D Printing
  • Laser Cutting
  • Resin Printing
  • Cricut Vinyl Cutting
  • Soldering

Advanced Workshops-

Unique workshops or experiences that typically change on a semester-to-semester basis. They may require that the participant has previous experience or comes to the workshop with some previously completed work. Herea is a list of the events that are happening this semester:

  • Game Audio Recording
  • VR Sculpture Workshop
  • 2D Laser Cutting Design

Some of the workshops mentioned have already taken place this semester, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss them in the future. To learn more about the workshops please e-mail the GaIMMakerSpace@ucf.edu that you’d wish to learn more or visit the Maker Space itself downtown in the Communication and Media Building 178.
