In AY 2019-2020 two Strategic Plan Innovation Awards were funded. This internal awards program, supported by GaIM and NSCM funding, provided $2,500 in seed money to collaborative projects (involving at least one GaIM faculty and another from UCF downtown or main campus) that leverage GaIM faculty and student research and creative expertise to advance GaIM’s strategic plans to “Become recognized as a leader in innovative, forward thinking, games, web, social media, and digital media design research and education.” The program seeks to capitalize upon the GaIM department’s key strengths in areas like design, story, and interactive media while helping establish a reputation for the UCF Downtown Maker Space as a hub for innovative research, creative work, teaching, and community engagement.
