Biography
With master’s degrees in public relations and journalism from Ball State University, Doug Blemker has extensive professional experience in marketing, advertising, writing, editing and design with a focus in photography and art direction. Blemker has taught courses at the University of Evansville and Ball State University before joining the faculty at UCF. As a professional, Blemker continues to have a hand in the marketing and creative at Allied Live, the nation’s premiere tour marketing agency. At Allied Live, he has spearheaded the creative services division, served as a press agent for multiple Broadway tours including “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder,” “Motown The Musical,” “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” “Elf The Musical,” “Billy Elliot the Musical,” “Rent: The Broadway Tour,” “August: Osage County” and “STOMP,” as well as multiple Chicago clients. Blemker has also served as associate company manager on the third national tour of The Phantom of the Opera as well as the Guest Relations Manager for the New Amsterdam Theatre, home of Disney’s The Lion King (at the time). He began his entertainment career spending almost five years in various positions at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. His research interests include advertising trends and digital media advances, relationship management, entertainment marketing and creative design training. In his free time, Blemker enjoys the arts, local theme parks and puppet building.
