Talk abstract:

In this talk Shabnam will walk you through her career journey, from her early days in Digital Media MFA program at UCF, to how she landed her current role as a technical program manager (TPM) at Prime Gaming. She will discuss her strategies for breaking into the industry, and will share practical tips on how one can navigate the industry and the job market, to build a successful career in Tech. Lastly, Shabnam will elaborate on her current role/responsibilities as a TPM, and how one can proactively prepare for a future career in technical program management.

Biography:

Shabnam Staebler oversees a team of technical program managers at Amazon, where she leads planning, execution and delivery of engineering projects, across multiple teams within Prime Gaming, as part of Amazon Games Studios. From unpaid internships to academic research, teaching to freelancing, graphic design to software development, and startups to Fortune100 companies — Shabnam has worked in a variety of different roles and industries, and proudly wears a generalist (and sometimes “been there, done that!”) badge. Shabnam graduated from UCF School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) with an MFA in Emerging Media – Digital Media in Summer 2014 and holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering with a Major in Software Engineering.
