Lawsuits against Qualitest Pharmaceutical Birth Control Package Error

Qualitest Pharmaceuticals Birth Control is being sued by more than 100 women for compensation due to the manufacturers error in packaging the pills. The women filed the lawsuit against Qualitest Pharmaceuticals, stating they took the pills as directed on the box which failed to prevent their pregnancies. The birth control pills were package incorrectly, the package was rotated 180 degrees. The pills were arranged in the reverse orientation, the placebo pills were taken when the active pills should have been in their place.

Ninety four women who had taken the pills had unexpected pregnancies, seventeen women did not carry out the pregnancy to the full term and two women who were not pregnant who were part of the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed in April and there was an FDA recall notice that stated the package didn’t “pose any immediate health risks”. The lawsuit was brought to the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia on November 5th, where more than 100 women expected compensations for the pain and the expenses they experienced.

The spokesman for the Endo pharmaceuticals ( Qualitest Pharmaceuticals is a subsidiary of Endo Pharmaceuticals) said “the company is aware of the complaint but doesn’t comment on pending or ongoing litigation.” Yet  stated that was ” a small number of pills packs that were manufactured by an external contract manufacturer”. It was also stated that “Endo has been able to confirm only one blister pack that was manifested a defect and was sold to a patient” while there are 3.2 million pill packs that were recalled.

Poverty Didn’t Just Happen: It Was Created By The Greed In The Hearts Of Men.

The reason we have ghettos and slums is due to a well thought out caste system. In this system some are meant to have and some are meant not to have. The way a person lives comes from programing the mind to think a certain way.

The individual is conditioned, similar to Pavlov’s experiment with dogs, to react a certain way. Take for instance an individual born into Ghetto or slum and has his mind filled with imagery of the ghetto, be it in school or in their surroundings the person begins to believe what they are accustom to but more important they acquaint themselves with living out life as they see.

Contrarily, take that individual an put them in a nurturing and positive environment they begin to act out the positive things they see. This is the deciding factor of the rich and the poor. Please understand I am not saying individuals cannot rise above their circumstances; I am simply stating that the state of poverty was a created thing.

When a child enters the world they don’t know if they are poor or rich, it is taught to them by society. You have been told to work hard, but how many of them do this? You see, the poor or indigent state came to reality as man’s love of money increased. Those more privileged took from the weaker strata of society. Men as they became more rich took more and more of the resources away from the less fortunate, keeping them in a state of poverty.

Finally, poverty is merely a form of slavery created to by the self proclaimed upper echelon; in order to keep the rest of the masses living demoralizing lives struggling for minimum wage leaving the rich access to the maximum.

“This is an attack on all humanity” World Reacts to the Paris Attacks

Friday night, multiple terrorist attacks occurred throughout Paris. Over 100 people were killed and over 300 are hospitalized. ISIS, or the Islamic State, has claimed responsibility for the attacks. The attacks were organized shootings and suicide bombings. The President of France, Francios Hollande, was escorted out of a soccer match before the game was finished. He issued a state of emergency throughout France.

There were seven separate attacks, and they all occurred simultaneously. President Obama addressed the situation, and stated that the United States is “prepared and ready” to assist France in anyway. “This is an attack not just on Paris, it’s an attack not just on the people of France, but this is an attack on all of humanity and the universal values that we share,” Obama said.

This was the deadliest attack that has occurred in France since World War II. The world was shocked, filled with grief, and showed united support. Countries across the world have been flying the French flag, and lighting up buildings with blue, white, and red to show their support. No credible threats towards the U.S. have been made following the Paris attacks, but heightened security is in place in major cities like Los Angeles and New York.

Islamic State militants have tweeted spine chilling threats that London could be next, and claimed the Paris attacks were only the beginning. World leaders have met to discuss how to go about combating ISIS going forward. President Obama said efforts towards fighting ISIS will be redoubled, and the United States will peaceful transition from Syria to stop the Islamic State from creating more pain and suffering across the globe.

Holly Holm: The NEW Baddest Woman on the Planet

There is a NEW bantamweight women’s champion, and her name is Holly Holm. Arguably the most dominant woman in sports, the now ex-champion, Ronda Rousey, was knocked out in the 57th second of the second round.

A 20-1 underdog, no one really gave Holly Holm the respect and chance she actually deserved. Holly is not only a World Boxing Champion in three weight classes, she also is a master at kickboxing. Stepping into the ring with Rousey, seemed like the natural progression for a champ, knowing it wasn’t going to be easy, but felt her time was now.

“I just felt like how could I not do this?” Holm said. “I have the best coaching from stand-up to grappling to wrestling. Look at this time right here; this right here is priceless.”

Ronda wasn’t just going to sit and let her take the belt, but Ronda seemed out matched from the throw of the first punch. Holly couldn’t keep still in anticipation to the fight, but when the bell rang for the first round, Holm looked poised and determined to out box the then champ.

Ronda was eating punch after punch, with a game plan that fit perfectly for the challenger. Instead of trying to take Holly down and try to work her magic on the ground, Ronda wanted to out box a world class boxer. Rousey did try to take her down, but Holm handled it with ease and got right back up to continue the beating.

After taking brutal shots in the first, the effects were showing in the second round, for Rowdy Rousey. When she tried throwing a left hook, and Holly ducked under the punch elegantly, to cause Ronda to swing at air, fall on a knee, and catch herself before Holly hit her with a counter, perfectly summed up the type of fight it was.

After that it didn’t take much longer for Holly to connect and daze her with a few punches, until she caught her with the deadly kick that caused Ronda to hit the deck. Landing a couple more punches to seal the knock out, Holly became the first person ever to become a world boxing champion and UFC champion.

It all started around 9:30 p.m. when two explosions went off near Stade de France during the first half of the France- Germany match, which Francois Hollande, the French president, was in attendance of.  At around the same time attackers strike a restaurant called Le Petit Cambodge and Le Carillion Bar where 15 people were killed. Soon after attacks were launched on the terrace of  La Casa Nostra pizzeria, at least 20 diners were shot killing at least five people.

9:40 p.m. , the militants are still going and aim for more victims. 19 people are shot and killed at the La Belle Equipe  bar in Rue de Charonne. And the final attack included the most bloodshed when over 80 people were killed at the Bataclan concert hall were American rock group,  Eagles of death metal, played. The gunmen wore suicide vests and used AK- 47 riffles as they ruthlessly opened fire.

Bacon And Sausages Do Cause Cancer, Says World Health Organization

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that processed meats, such as sausages and bacon, cause cancer.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), part of the WHO, has released research that reclassifies processed meats into “Group 1”, “carcinogenic to humans”. That means that there is “sufficient evidence in humans” that eating large quantities raises the risk of bowel cancer. Red meat has been classified as “probably” carcinogenic. The IARC based its report on more than 800 studies across various countries.

Group 1 also includes other known cancer-causing substances, such as tobacco and asbestos. However, the reclassification does not mean that eating red meat is as bad for you as smoking.

Previously, processed meat had been included in the IARC’s “Group 2A”, or “probably carcinogenic to humans”, meaning that there was good evidence from animal trials and limited evidence from studies on humans that it caused cancer.

The IARC’s experts concluded that every 50g of processed meat – roughly two slices of bacon – that you eat each day raises your risk of colorectal cancer by 18%. Dr Kurt Straif, the scientist in charge of the IARC’s reports, said in a statement that “for an individual, the risk of developing colorectal cancer because of their consumption of processed meat remains small, but this risk increases with the amount of meat consumed”.

According to Cancer Research UK,,64 people out of every 100,000 can expect to develop colorectal cancer per year.

For comparison, research and cancer and smoking found that men who smoked 25 cigarettes a day were 24 times higher risk of developing lung cancer, or a 2,400% increase.

These may seem like some scary facts, but really scientists are just asking everyone to stay informed.

Cult Show ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ Gets Crowd Funded Reboot

From left to right: Gypsy, Crow T. Robot, Joel Robinson, and Tom Servo

It was announced yesterday that cult television series Mystery Science Theater 3000 is going to have a crowd funded reboot. Mystery Science Theater 3000, or MST3K for short, was a show that ran for 12 years and was built on the premise of mocking bad movies. A host and his robot companions were trapped in space by an evil mad scientist and forced to endure some of the worst films ever put to celluloid. Why you ask? Well, the theme song explicitly states when it comes to questions like this:

“If you’re wondering how he eats and breathes
And other science facts,
Just repeat to yourself ‘It’s just a show,
I should really just relax’”

Helmed by series creator and original host Joel Hodgson, the new version will feature the familiar wisecracking ‘bots Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo. Yet there is still the question of the new yet-to-be-named host and “mad,” both of which Hodgson has promised to reveal in due time. Hodgson has also spoke about potentially having cameos by some original cast members.

The Kickstarter is already over halfway to its minimum goal of two million dollars. This would allow them to produce three new episodes. The stretch goal is a whopping $5.5 billion, resulting in a total of 12 episodes.

For years after its cancellation in 1999, the crew of the Satellite of Love split off into two groups: RiffTrax and Cinematic Titanic. RiffTrax, the more well known of the two, consists of former MST3K host Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett. Nelson has already stated he will not be involved, but there has yet to be word from Murphy or Corbett on the subject.

We Take A Look At The Recent Hispanic Immigration Issues in The American Culture

This are the articles we reviewed for this opinion-based blog:

  • http://www.wnd.com/2012/04/hispanic-assimilation-has-failed/
  • http://www.vdare.com/articles/abolishing-america-contd-no-assimilation-no-nation
  • http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/books/2004/06/identity_crisis.html

When Huntington says in The Hispanic Challenge that “Spanish retention is also bolstered by the overwhelming majorities (between 66 percent and 85 percent) of Mexican immigrants and Hispanics who emphasize the need for their children to be fluent in Spanish. These attitudes contrast with those of other immigrant groups.” I agree 100% with this coming from a Hispanic family myself; my parents always want me to speak Spanish at home no matter whom I am with. But this might be different for every family but I do know that most people want their kids to continue to speak their native language so the don’t ever lose it. Hispanic are very proud people, regardless if they are from Mexico or any other South American country; they always want to show their pride in anything they do.

The assimilation of Latinos and Mexicans is a bit frustrating for everyone who is not from Mexico, like myself. I am from Venezuela (Yes, there are other Latin countries besides Mexico) but it is easier for people to group all the Hispanics in one group so they don’t have to worry about all the other countries, but it is upsetting, because we all have different backgrounds. Yes, we can all speak Spanish, but with extremely different accents. This is a big concern, not just for me but also for a lot of Hispanics.

Francis states that “NBC News was right: Given mass immigration, alien languages, alien dress, alien forms of entertainment are “inevitable,” and so is the extinction of the traditional culture and heritage of the nation that welcomes the immigrants.” This is a big statement, when you put it that way, it makes seem like it’s a bad thing, but as a culture, we should always evolve, things are definitely not going to stay the same forever. With the migrating minorities, it’s happening very quickly, so I understand why it would seem that way to them.

Tancredo says “But if only 48 percent of third-generation Hispanic adults describe themselves as Americans first and Peruvians or Mexicans or Cubans second, can anyone say that assimilation is working well for Hispanic immigrants? That glass is clearly not half full. Shouldn’t we expect that third-generation number to be closer to 90 percent?” this reminded me of what Huntington was talking about in his article, but he was explaining the complete opposite. He said that Hispanics ususlly identify from their birth country frist and then some might say that they consider themselves Americans. So who do we believe? I think it depends where you have spent most of your life, for me it was back in Venezuela, so if people ask me where I am from, I don’t even need to think about it.

Fukuyama like that Huntington is bringing awareness to the discussion but he points out a few things that he missed like talking about how Americans only care about working all day, but Fukuyama says that shouldn’t be label to only Americans because there are so many other countries that have people working intensely to get food to their table. Another great point he makes is that “ If it is the case that high levels of immigration are inevitable for developed societies, then what we need to do is to shift the focus from immigration per se to the issue of assimilation” I can totally agree with him, if people are viewing the migration as such a bad thing for the American culture, then they should take matters into their own hands be focusing in things that actually would benefit someone.

Out of all the articles I read I can honestly say I really like the way Fukuyama wrote his. His point of view was persuasive and backed up with facts and he even brought opinions of others to make his point even more clear for the reader. He definitely knows what his talking about; he understands how the culture is evolving with the country’s citizens, as we all should.

New Study from University of Texas Links Meat Consumption with Kidney Cancer

Studies showing a link between heavy meat consumption and cancer have been very prevalent in the news lately. A new study conducted by Dr. Xifeng Wu and colleagues at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston made the news this Monday, November 9, 2015 and this time, it’s related to kidney cancer.

According to NBC News, Dr. Wu studied “659 patients just diagnosed with kidney cancer and compared them to 699 similar people without cancer.” Wu’s team wanted to analyze the link between the cancer and meat consumption, as well as the factors that may or may not explain the link.

The health journal “Cancer” declared that people who consumed the most red meat and poultry alike have a higher risk of developing kidney cancer. These people also ate fewer fruits and vegetables than the national average. Though this statement is not untrue, health professionals are still unsure of why this occurs.

Wu’s team attempted to discern a link in the cause based on the analysis of “2-amino-1-methyl-6-phenyl-imidazo(4,5-b) pyridine (PhIP for short ) and amino-3,8-dimethylimidazo(4,5-f) quinoxaline (MeIQx for short).”

“Kidney cancer is among the 10 most common cancers in both men and women,” says the American Cancer Society. “For reasons that are not totally clear, the rate of new kidney cancers has been rising since the 1990s.”

Wu’s team is rather certain that the rise is due to the increasing consumption of red and processed meats, though their research is still a work in process.

Before anything is known for certain regarding the subject, Wu urges Americans to be wary of their meat intake.
